anothername: Was Sins: Rebellion not the expansion pack that, among a big amount of other features, added a big performance boost to the game & super-sized capital ships? Will the gog version of it work with the (non steam) retail version of trinity?
avatar
Darvin: Rebellion and Trinity have separate multiplayer systems. Trinity has its own built-in multiplayer lobby ("Ironclad Online" IIRC) and unless they've shut it down then connecting is just a matter of having a valid CD-key then creating a user-name. Rebellion uses Steamworks, which is presumably the problem with getting it to "play nice" with Galaxy.
I don't really care about multiplayer. I'm more interested to know if the x-pack will work with the retail version of the main game; the singleplayer part.
I'm a Stardock, a champion...

Themken: Now only Microsoft games coming here will surprise me. Welcome Stardock. Hopefully you like pie.
Sega?
Welcome along Stardock, long time no see.

I wish Stardock and GOG could come also to terms about Reclaiming old keys http://www.gog.com/reclaim
Great news though I wish I hadn't spent so much on the fall sale so I could afford Galciv II
Another pile of games to the never ending wishlist. On the bright side only Ashes of the Singularity requires specs to run i cant reach atm, but since its planned release is next year there's still plenty of time to decide how to handle that, and the w10 upgrade.

Rebellion is a stand-alone expansion. You don't need Trinity to play it.

Maxvorstadt: Ah, thanks for the info! :-) So all Stardock games will be published here without Steam connection and Stardock registration?
avatar
Islanti: Without Steam yes. Registration is never required to play. BUT
(you knew this was coming right?)
BUT for certain features of older games, such as Galactic Civilization II, you need an account. For example, In GalCiv2 posting game results requires a Stardock account. That's so we can associate your game results with your profile. If you don't want those game results recorded you don't need to register and can play the complete game.

Newer games such as Galactic Civilization III, Sorcerer King, and future titles integrate with GOG Galaxy to enable game reporting automatically using your GOG account. GOG Galaxy isn't required though; without it we don't report those games to the Metaverse.

TL;dr - Classic games may require registration for game reporting. Everything for our modern games is available via GOG but for the full experience we recommend playing with GOG Galaxy.

Sounds like a great method to me; no new account to manage, no requirement for any additional software or client ever, and if you want achievements et all recorded you can play via GOG Galaxy (which I for one plan to).
Player choice about how to enjoy solid gaming experience maintained, everybody wins.

Well... except maybe my wallet, I've already picked up everything Stardock current in the GOG offerings but I see all those TBA entries and my wallet whimpers a little lol
I guarantee the rest of their games will release here during the winter sale. A similar thing happened when Telltale started selling their new stuff here. One or two of their new things showed up, and the others were put on the Upcoming list. They then premiered during the next big sale that happened.
I wonder if "Political Machine" will come to GoG. Sounds like an interesting and funny game.
Look forward to Sins of Solar Empire games coming here :D

*shakes head*

... and to think that at one point in time Stardock was responsible for the only Digital Distribution site that I thought was better than GOG.
After the summer sales I thought GoG will have nothing to tempt me opening my wallet.

Sob* I was wrong......
This is a MASSIVE get guys, kudos! One of my sticking points for awhile here has been a relative lack of new/recent strategy titles. With the amount of quality, newer cRPG's and top-tier indies' you've been getting on board, these sorts of deals to bring top notch strategy to gog just makes it that much easier to ignore the other mob.

In addition to Galactic Civ 3, all three of those upcoming titles look very promising indeed, and I want them all!

GOG.com: Sins of a Solar Empire®: Trinity, Sins of a Solar Empire®: Rebellion
Good things coming to gog, glad I waited!

Hopefully I don't have to wait out great sale for overly long after this launches here :)
highly anticipated in either case. Thanks gog + Stardock!
