Breja: I don't want a remake. I'm perfectly happy to play the original. I want a worthy sequel.
Actually I have a bigger problem with remasters. They often offer not enough changes in comparison to the original. Remakes are games made from scratch, so we get a completely new version of the game. Of course the changes can be controversial, but the final effect is usually better than the one achieved by a remaster. I'll be waiting for KOTOR remaster. I wonder however what changes they'll introduce to game mechanics which were based on D&D in the original.
I eagerly await to see how with thunderous applause, they manage to ruin this.

Yes, this will be fun. /s

Never mind, I'm happy to wait until the fan-driven crowd-sourced KotOR series remaster, including KotOR: Coda Originale, with all the plot restored to the original, and The Sith Lords: Coda Compendia with all the Restoration mod content and the best mod-management utility.

LootHunter: Actually, she isn't in charge. She is just one of the additional writers. But yeah, expect some "smashing patriarchy" cringe in some side-quest.
Not to forget covering up the female Twi'leks to eliminate the "male gaze".
I was trying to hold off on judging until release, but then I looked up Sam Maggs online. She doesn't seem like the type of person that would be able to resist pushing her agenda and personal political beliefs in the re-writing of the story (and out of interest, why does the story need re-writing - why can't they just make a sequel?)

As such, like the Mass Effect remasters, I'm going to carry on pretending that both she and this remake don't exist. I think that's better for everyone concerned.

Well, I guess there's a 1% chance it will turn out okay I guess. Still, hiring someone who explicitly hates what you want her to work on is never a good start.

I expect this to be a trainwreck of such epic proportions that the memes will still be talked about a thousand years from now. Yes, if I keep my expectations at that level I'm sure to avoid disappointment. Yet somehow Disney will find a way...

morolf: Who needs a remake, the original is still perfectly playable.
Same is true of about 80-90% of remakes / remasters these days. Occasionally they're needed (System Shock 1's clunky as hell controls). Most of the rest are jumping on that 'minimal effort release' gravy train...

That's not always a bad thing. In my experience the best "remasters" of all are unofficial HD texture packs, widescreen patches & source ports from community modders who go out of their way to remain faithful to the original (and are often praised for that). It certainly beats "enhanced content" by someone who hates (or has never played) the game they're paid to work on with usually predictable negative results...

Just a reminder: If you don't have the original and still want to buy it, do it sooner than later. It's Disney we're talking, so...

Yep, it’s called the Beamdog effect. I said back then that them getting away with it would open the flood gates to everyone having a go, and here we are. True there are the occasional one where some effort has been put in, mostly though it’s simple money.
I would rather see a completed version of KotOR II or KotOR III than an remake.

On the bright side, at least I won't be tempted to give Disney any money.
It's a good time to remember that the GoG version of KOTOR 2 is outdate.

I agree, the original KotORs do not need any remakes. But a proper sequel, which would not discard The Sith Lords lore and story, could be interesting.

For those looking for the next best thing to KoTOR III I'd recommend The Old Republic.

I've avoided it for a long time... because I hate MMORPGs, EA & modern BioWare... but I finally gave it a shot and I'm honestly shocked at how good it is for free players and as a single player experience. Every mission has dialogue, well acted too, decent story, no contact with other players required, no grinding required and other positives. It's not as connected to the previous games as KoTOR II was connected to KoTOR I, but there are a number of references and connections.

Don't get me wrong, I'd prefer a proper KoTOR III, but I don't see it happening. If it does happen it will be... 'modernized' trash.

I'm more than fine with playing the original game.

I don't need to play a 'game' Sam Maggs 'worked' on, I'd rather blend my brain.
