Deals so good, you won't want to fall asleep.
You remember back when you used to walk into a store, browse the shelves, pick out a game, and then buy it--all in the actual real world? We don't know about you, but most of us at GOG.com have had our limbs atrophy to small vestigial nubbins since all of our shopping happens online these days. Of course, one thing that sometimes happens in real world stores with real world goods--particularly when they have a good sale--is that they run out of stock. Usually that means that the deal was so good that they couldn't keep up with demand.

Well, in the digital realm, this is usually pretty rare. How do you run out of stock on digital games, short of entropy devouring the universe? Well, we have gotten 101 games that will be on sale on the front page of GOG.com, but the discounts are so high at the moment that we can't just sell an unlimited number of copies of these games: we are only able to sell a few at these discounts--up to 80% off--and once they're gone, they're gone.

So what games will be on sale in our Insomnia promo? Bestselling classics and new games alike. There will also occasionally be some free games in super limited numbers (like, 20 or 30 copies)--if you're fast enough on the trigger finger to pick 'em up, that is. The deal will run from now until we're out of "stock" of games for the sale, and games may show up more than once. So it's time to bathe in a tub of coffee*, dip some espresso**, snort an energy drink***, or do whatever else it takes to stay up so you don't miss out on the best deals on fantastic games on GOG.com since summer.
*This is probably not a good idea
**This is definitely not a good idea
***This is totally safe, though****
****NO IT'S NOT WHAT ARE YOU DOING YOU CRAZY PERSON

Infin8ty: Totally off-topic, but I seriously cannot go to Youtube anymore. It locks up my browser in less than a minute. Could it be a problem with my DNT's?
Have you tried to clear the browser cache? I had a similar problem earlier today and that fixed it.
Ok, I give up.

Can't really multitask between actual stuff I have to do and this promo. Hope of catching a freebie is way too slim, I have no idea when games I want will get on sale and I can't concentrate on this thing I need to finish this way.

GL all.

Kaitu: They only had 25 copies this round (thankfully). Took around 10-15 minutes. Real problems have been Eador (around 3 hours), Book of Unwritten Tales (3 1/2-4 1/2 hours), & Thunderscape/Divinity (8-9 hours collectively).
avatar
xenxander: book of unwritten tales and Eador are both good games.

I wish I could have bought each one.

I even offered to give my free "The Witcher" GOG code for an Eador game.. but alas....
yes it take a long but it sale all over it so its good for the GOG... and we must wait until it sales... wery cleaver strategy... you cant wait so you buy it the the next... i dont like it but hey its business

TurnipSlayerr: Unfortunately it's past 6pm here so we won't be able to change this now but if anyone else is worried about this, please pass on the message. It's rather difficult to keep up with all the posts!

All of those have been up in round 3. You're missing at least Populous: The Beginning, Total Annihilation: Kingdoms, Rogue Legacy and Syberia.

I believe it was called Fear Effect.

istudedinre: Anyone else think that this last round should have just listed EVERY deal and let us buy the ones we're interested in? I'm out of patience waiting for La Mulana to come around... gonna check in haphazardly and will probably miss it.
If you're tired, buy it for the full price. The sale is entertainment. It's not worth your time to sit and wait. It's not even worth MY time, and minimum wage in Russia is like $170.
avatar
xenxander: no I got a 900 power supply so I wouldn't have any issues like that.
avatar
istudedinre: I think you're missing the point. Clean power and wattage are not the same thing. You barely need more than 450W to run most modern gaming systems, but you DO need current that has minimal variance. Many power supplies pass along drops and surges in current that reduce the performance and longevity of your entire system, as well as causing strange behavior and crashes. Clean power is critical for good computing performance.
I'll second this. I'm no expert, but it might pay you to check that your PSU supplies sufficient current (Amps) at the voltage your video card requires (i.e. enough for the video card and any other components on your PC that use the same voltage). Plus, if the PSU is a poor quality, and/or old, it may be unable to reliably supply the current that is stated in its specification.

Other than that, you could try rolling back to earlier driver versions.

GhostwriterDoF: If there were no freebies in the mix, people wouldn't be waiting here, watching the ticker go down for hours at a time... :P
avatar
Cardian: I wouldn't be too sure about that. Many games like System Shock 2 and Planescape were gone in seconds. So, if you really want a game, you'd have to wait even without the chance of freebies.
When I really want a game, sometimes I don't even wait for sales... :/

As for this sale, I doubt anyone would lose sleep over it, without the freebies added in, though I liked your 1 and 5 dollar representation of human issues.
