Deals so good, you won't want to fall asleep.
You remember back when you used to walk into a store, browse the shelves, pick out a game, and then buy it--all in the actual real world? We don't know about you, but most of us at GOG.com have had our limbs atrophy to small vestigial nubbins since all of our shopping happens online these days. Of course, one thing that sometimes happens in real world stores with real world goods--particularly when they have a good sale--is that they run out of stock. Usually that means that the deal was so good that they couldn't keep up with demand.

Well, in the digital realm, this is usually pretty rare. How do you run out of stock on digital games, short of entropy devouring the universe? Well, we have gotten 101 games that will be on sale on the front page of GOG.com, but the discounts are so high at the moment that we can't just sell an unlimited number of copies of these games: we are only able to sell a few at these discounts--up to 80% off--and once they're gone, they're gone.

So what games will be on sale in our Insomnia promo? Bestselling classics and new games alike. There will also occasionally be some free games in super limited numbers (like, 20 or 30 copies)--if you're fast enough on the trigger finger to pick 'em up, that is. The deal will run from now until we're out of "stock" of games for the sale, and games may show up more than once. So it's time to bathe in a tub of coffee*, dip some espresso**, snort an energy drink***, or do whatever else it takes to stay up so you don't miss out on the best deals on fantastic games on GOG.com since summer.
*This is probably not a good idea
**This is definitely not a good idea
***This is totally safe, though****
****NO IT'S NOT WHAT ARE YOU DOING YOU CRAZY PERSON

At least there's only 100 of Jack Keane, otherwise this could take all night
I had time to install like 10 windows updates during 5 jack keanes.
I kind of feel sorry for Deck13. Massive sale going on and it comes to a screeching halt because of their game which can't move 100 copies even at 60% off.

DubConqueror: Nice, I'll join the list:

List of things you can do before Jack Keane 2 sells out

1. Reinstall Windows
2. Go to Subway, get a sandwich, eat it, then come back home.
3. Walk to the far oceanic coast from where you're living and grab a sandwich there, then hike home.
Why not.

4. Have a kid, bring it up, send it to college and have it found a game developer company to make a better game than Jack Keane 2.

I live in the republic of Panama. The Pacific ocean is a mere few minutes away, while the atlantic ocean is a whole... two hours away.

*edit: Driving, of course.

Psyringe: Would have been quite possible, actually. Example:

Let a "free game" offer stand for 1 minute. During that minute, people can click a "Want it" button. After the minute is over, the copies are randomly distributed among the participants.

An additional option would have been to give people the option of either clicking "want it", or "Don't want it", with the latter giving them a bonus the next time they _do_ click "want it" on a free game. This would have increased the chances that free games find their way to people who actually care about them, instead of the current system, where you have to click the button so fast that you can't even check what you would be getting.
+1 That's a good idea. Or at the very least, people should have been made input a code before completing a free transaction.

Beelzebubb: I just bought 15 copies of this game buy accident...
If that is true, I'm honestly sorry for you and sympathetic to your cause, but, please, don't take it to GOG support because they might put those 15 Jack Keane 2s back for grabs in the total of units sold...
Anyone have a link to the Mod that makes Jack nude? If someone posts it here Im sure sales would skyrocket.
I bought Total Annihilation : Kingdoms, then I get it as a freebie !!

Yeah, it is kinda sad....you should buy the rest, you know, take one for the team...

glumpot: I thought the counter was broken... Kept hitting refresh. The thing I don't get, is why did they do this sale on a Wednesday? Why not on a Friday or Saturday when most people aren't going to have to go to bed early to get up for work or school?
avatar
ahctlucabbus: ... and actually drunk enough to buy Jack Keane by the looks of it.
Hahaha. I thin that's about what it would take to sell a hundred copies of the game.
Do you realise that GOG made you an opportunity to get about 2 hours of sleep time? Don't waste it on writing here!

ozzyoscy: Are the games going to be out of stock at that price, or will be absolutely never see them ever again at all?

Is there a list of the games that have been on sale? I only just found out about this. :(
avatar
Fictionvision: The games wont be out of stock because that is kind of impossible with digital goods. These are just temporary price cuts where after they sell so many they go back to regular and another game comes along.
Don't retailers, such as GoG, buy keys or a set number of 'stock' when selling digital games? There are games that have been removed from digital retailers, I've seem games on Steam become unavailable.

Can someone please push these boxes aside, so that we can get to the "real" games? That's the advantage of real physical sells. These Jack "boxes" would gather dust, while the other ones were sold like sliced bread. :D

Please, GOG, kick these "things" into oblivion, after a time. This is worse than geting no freebie.
For stuff like this they should withdraw one copy from the current sale every 30 seconds or something. They can still sell the same limited amount but put them in a pool for later, maybe in a smaller batch. It's soooo important to keep this sale moving...
