Deals so good, you won't want to fall asleep.
You remember back when you used to walk into a store, browse the shelves, pick out a game, and then buy it--all in the actual real world? We don't know about you, but most of us at GOG.com have had our limbs atrophy to small vestigial nubbins since all of our shopping happens online these days. Of course, one thing that sometimes happens in real world stores with real world goods--particularly when they have a good sale--is that they run out of stock. Usually that means that the deal was so good that they couldn't keep up with demand.

Well, in the digital realm, this is usually pretty rare. How do you run out of stock on digital games, short of entropy devouring the universe? Well, we have gotten 101 games that will be on sale on the front page of GOG.com, but the discounts are so high at the moment that we can't just sell an unlimited number of copies of these games: we are only able to sell a few at these discounts--up to 80% off--and once they're gone, they're gone.

So what games will be on sale in our Insomnia promo? Bestselling classics and new games alike. There will also occasionally be some free games in super limited numbers (like, 20 or 30 copies)--if you're fast enough on the trigger finger to pick 'em up, that is. The deal will run from now until we're out of "stock" of games for the sale, and games may show up more than once. So it's time to bathe in a tub of coffee*, dip some espresso**, snort an energy drink***, or do whatever else it takes to stay up so you don't miss out on the best deals on fantastic games on GOG.com since summer.
*This is probably not a good idea
**This is definitely not a good idea
***This is totally safe, though****
****NO IT'S NOT WHAT ARE YOU DOING YOU CRAZY PERSON

Yes, although it is on special on Steam...

Minmataro: How many of you guys are actually new to PC gaming? Like you made the jump from this console generation (360,PS3) to PC and now are just discovering the classics on GoG?

I ask because a lot of the questions and "look what i bought" lists are of games that anyone gaming the last 5-10 years probably has or had.

Im not trying to say anything bad just kind of curious.

jackster79: Before 97, it was NES, SNES, & GB (with the occasional Genesis and Sega CD).

Started gaming regularly on the PC in 97, as that is when I got my first pc ever. However, even before then I got some mags that reviewed console games and had pc games and advertisements in them, so I was exposed to some of what was there. I still remember seeing the Gabriel Knight 1 PREVIEW (little more than a single column excerpt with a couple of screenshots) and thinking: "This is awesome - I need to get this one day!". Then, when I got my PC a few years later I was fortunate enough to get not long after the bundle of GK 1 & 2.

My first ever PC games that I bought specifically to play on said PC? 7th Guest / 11th Hour bundle and Imperium Galactica (man did that box label make the game sound so awesome!?!).
In 1995, I finally got a Windows PC - and Duke Nukem 3D and Quake 1 introduced me to PC gaming.

dsross: For me there's a lot of classic games that I missed back in the day. Once upon a time I couldn't afford to buy more than one or two $80 games a year. Most games of the 90s I only ever played demos of. Later on it wasn't worth chasing down a second hand copy of a game that was a) out of date and b) not guaranteed to even work any more. Then along came digital distribution...

And welcome to online activation...(¬_¬)

Long gone dude, long gone...
To the person who wanted to trade for a copy of Deus Ex, I have one on Steam, will trade for Sword of the Stars the pit DLC; or will trade it plus a second game here for Avadon 2.

Unfortunately you did :( But, if you don't mind a little DRM, it's currently on sale on Steam

Not new either, pretty much started when I was about 12 (which was 23 years ago) and really got into adventures via Monkey Island. But I'm an on and off gamer, sometimes other obsessions take over, and sometimes I go back to playing games with a vengeance. I haven't always had money to spend on games, and normal game prices keep me from buying new ones, so I'm something of a serial backlister :P

Speaking of which: Is Bastion only available via platforms? II was catching up with posts and someone mentioned it again - some time during this third round (2 days ago? 3?) someone else mentioned it too and said that ladies love it. It looks nice and I'm getting more and more curious! But I'm not on Steam.
Expeditions and Spellforce are the tricky ones, we're probably looking at 600 copies of each.

Psychonauts and Thief 2 are proven winners.

Yep. Granted the prices weren't as bad as Australia here in the US but it was the same overall situation. You were limited to whatever retail stores were in your area that kept the prices high because they knew they could get away with it. Getting things like demo discs from magazines was awesome.

Now you can get classics and even recent games for a small fraction of what one game cost back then.

I'm not new to PC gaming as I first started in 1995, but I missed a lot of games because I still played console games a lot also. So with my time and money divided I missed stuff like the Thief series, Wing Commander games, ect. So a sale like this is a good time to jump in to these series and have fun.

Was too poor to afford a PC for the longest time, got a free one with either a cable or phone service contract back in '99. Before that, it was NES/SNES/N64... My first PC games were Fallout 2, Red Alert 2 and Nox, and some hand me down floppy disk games. Fallout 2 is still my favorite game and I still have the discs for both FO2 and 1 xD

But yeah, I missed so many good games from before/around that time, so it's nice to be able to play them now xd

$3.75 on Steam for the next week.

That's a bit less time to get it than a Keane deal.
