Deals so good, you won't want to fall asleep.
You remember back when you used to walk into a store, browse the shelves, pick out a game, and then buy it--all in the actual real world? We don't know about you, but most of us at GOG.com have had our limbs atrophy to small vestigial nubbins since all of our shopping happens online these days. Of course, one thing that sometimes happens in real world stores with real world goods--particularly when they have a good sale--is that they run out of stock. Usually that means that the deal was so good that they couldn't keep up with demand.

Well, in the digital realm, this is usually pretty rare. How do you run out of stock on digital games, short of entropy devouring the universe? Well, we have gotten 101 games that will be on sale on the front page of GOG.com, but the discounts are so high at the moment that we can't just sell an unlimited number of copies of these games: we are only able to sell a few at these discounts--up to 80% off--and once they're gone, they're gone.

So what games will be on sale in our Insomnia promo? Bestselling classics and new games alike. There will also occasionally be some free games in super limited numbers (like, 20 or 30 copies)--if you're fast enough on the trigger finger to pick 'em up, that is. The deal will run from now until we're out of "stock" of games for the sale, and games may show up more than once. So it's time to bathe in a tub of coffee*, dip some espresso**, snort an energy drink***, or do whatever else it takes to stay up so you don't miss out on the best deals on fantastic games on GOG.com since summer.
*This is probably not a good idea
**This is definitely not a good idea
***This is totally safe, though****

mondo84: Is this the correct order and amounts for the last few games?

I Have No Mouth and I Must Scream - 1050
King of Dragon Pass - free
Leisure Suit Larry Reloaded - 200
Thief 3: Deadly Shadows - 600
Neverwinter Nights: Diamond Edition - 1200
Tomb Raider 1+2+3 - 600
Puddle - 300
Magrunner: Dark Pulse - free
Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver - 750

Thanks!
I think Magrunner came before Puddle and not sure about Dragon Pass.

dedoporno: Well, Diablo dies in every installment and come back again in the next, so what's the big deal :D:D:D
Spoilers

-----

That's true, but in my opinion Soul Reaver's / LoK's plotline is a lot more consistent than Diablo's. It is predictable that Diablo will magically resurrect whenever Activision needs more $, but with Soul Reaver, major things like that have like a hundred tiny threads that interlink time and space in some weird paradox of death and resurrection on a universal scale, so it was too bad that the series didn't reach a definite conclusion considering the elder god never died.

I think that's also important, they never killed / neutralized the elder god.

End of Spoilers

EX-Deimon: Then i'd just play them on my console, to be honest. This is the main reason why i've not bought State of Decay yet. Even though it has been fully released, they've still not added keyboard and mouse support. They've been given a lot of stick for that.
avatar
ReynardFox: But... even though I am a console supporter, a multiplatform game on a decent PC is going to look better, run better, plus give you the console's control options, it's the best of both worlds. Take Batman Arkham City and Sonic generations for example, miles better on PC, but designed for gamepad play.

As far as I'm concerned, a PC today is incomplete without a controller.
I could care less if they look better on PC. They don't always run better either. I own Batman Arkham City for PS3 and it plays well enough.

stevieknix: Vagrant Story? That the one where you're investigating the ruined city?
avatar
Schemilix: You're Riskbreaker Ashley Riot (the guy with his arse hanging out) investigating Leá Monde and chasing some shirtless dude around and fightin' dragons and pushing boxes around, yeah.
Yup, I have two copies of that for PS1 sitting on a shelf.
Never finished it, the weapon synthesis and strengthening system I just found way too convoluted.

Briareos262: lol, this is all too true indeed.
Yes, but Soul Reaver's / LoK's villain was never defeated.
Well Kane had a promising start but a slow fade...

I won't label it a "Keane" yet though as I think you have to push a 4 or 5 hour barrier to reach that zone!

Briareos262: those are great. They are considered among the best strategy/rpg ever released for the psx for its time. And still considered classics to this day among alot of rpg/strategy console gamers. Gratnet Tactics Ogre was a rerelease and FFT got rereleased later down the line for PSP I believe.
avatar
Schemilix: Tactics Ogre was initially released on SNES, got a terrible PSX port with very few changes except that the translation was even worse, and was eventually remade completely on the PSP under the name 'Wheel of Fate' in Japan, but got a Queen reference in English-speaking countries. It's got a new, good translation done by the same guy as FFXII, War of the Lions and Vagrant Story, new graphics, new storylines and remastered music.

FFT was a PSX game and got a PSP port, with some remastering, a complete translation, and a fucking buttload of lag.

So yeah they got remade alright.
indeed. To this day I still regret not being able pick up the original snes release of tactic ogre for the snes as well as chrono trigger and FF3 or was it 4, It had Mog on the cover. Oh yeah forgot Super Mario RPG, still have never played to this day and I don't think that one ever got a rerelease sadly.

EX-Deimon: I would only use them if i'm playing on a PS1/2 emulator on my PC. Yes, I know Legacy of Kain also came out on PS1 and Dreamcast, but I do not want to pay extra to buy a controller just to play one game, you know?
There is a PS2 emulator for the PC? :o

Lol, Leagacy of Keane.

Yes, and it's quite advanced, but you need a powerhouse PC.

The one with the Moogle is FFVI, but that was FFIV when it first came out in America for some reason.

I appreciate the list. I had passed out somewhere when Theif 3 appeared.

Yes. Last time i used one was about 3 years ago and I played games like Xenosaga fine. You do need a rather decent PC, though. You can also make the graphics look much better than the original PS2 game. Dunno if they've updated it or not, but if they have, it should run better on PCs nowdays.
