It seems that you're using an outdated browser. Some things may not work as they should (or don't work at all).
We suggest you upgrade newer and better browser like: Chrome, Firefox, Internet Explorer or Opera

I take my logins security very seriously, so I use a combination of different e-mails and passwords, just in case.

My GOG account has the two-step login enabled, but how do you know is someone tried to log into your account with that kind of information (IP, location, OS, browser, etc...) that others are reporting, by e-mail?

It's included in the email GOG sends you with the new 4-digit code when it detects a log-in attempt from "a new device, browser, or location".

If you've received none, then there has been no such attempt.

Oh! That's good to know. Thanks for the reply ^_^

PenguinJim: I just had someone try to hack me a few hours ago, too! My first time!

"OS:
Windows 7
Browser:
IE 11.0
Estimated location:
Russia, Nizhniy Novgorod"

By far the most offensive part of this... Internet Explorer?!?!

Saved by two-step, thankfully, and password changed to something even more fancy. But just what is going on?!
That is a new low. Don't even the hackers have a wee bit of pride?

Or is it MS Russia themselves? O-)

I think you're onto something here, it could even be Bill Gatesov himself.

It could have been worse. At least their OS is Win7.

Now imagine the same report but with Windows ME instead. I don't think a computer can be humiliated any further than that. Its circuits would fry themselves out of shame.

Yes, Vista

*running and hiding*
My guess is they are hoping to find someone who is using GOG wallet or has their CC info saved to buy games and download them for piracy and or for stealing personal information.

Since GOG is a bit behind on the security front and is growing in popularity.

ME was worse, especially when you consider it was based on a fairly decent OS, 98SE (and it had some seriously annoying bugs, like hardware randomly disappearing).

Vista at least has some excuse as it was a radically different OS compared to previous.

hmmmm.....point for you, but as Vista was supposed the next new better awesome Windows (especially with the advertisements) and being such a big failure, makes it even worth ;)

ME never was promoted as such.

And to list all the problems of Vista, we would be still sitting here in 5 years time.

Actually ME on the company Laptop wasn't running to bad, quite stable and without any hick-ups.

I think a lot of its issues were hardware compatibility, it did run ok for a number of people.

Then again, some people also loved Vista and had no issues.

hmmm....what was is called again, what prevented a lot of games to play again, something called similar to DRM (NOT the same meaning), somethign to do with rights or virus thing, can't remember....

And HW compatibility: you must be joking ;)

The times of real HW compatibility problems are over, if you mean driver problems that is not a HW issue, just a SW issue ;)

Probably a zombie hunting for banking credentials, if user has wallet option attached.

Technically Vista was a step forward, because display manager was rewritten (kinda like Wayland vs Xorg, in Linux terms).

ME was horrid. There are books written about it. I do not know, if you used ME back in times, but it was extremely bad and crash-happy at running back-day software AND at same time, didn't give access to dos promt easily.

ME also WAS advertized as "better Windows", with all "multimedia" crap written all over it, where in reality it was a cut-down Windows 98 with useless manuals.

the bolded part made me lough like mad ;)

Didn't they say it for every version?

And I was just looking at some old pictures, I have to retract my statements, it was 2000, not ME!

My apologies!

You comment about crash happy made me look up the list of versions, checked a few pictures and found, it wasn't ME what I had in mind. (plus I couldn't find a enterprise edition for ME ;) )

Although ironically, if we had to say which Star Trek series ME was, it would be Star Trek: Enterprise.

Edit: how am I still a "new user"!? EIGHT YEARS we've been together, Goggy! EIGHT YEARS!!!!
