ILoveMyGhostGirl: Okay, okay, I get it... female gamer who's obsessed with romance in RPGs; I'm a walking cliche. But I just power housed my way through EVERY FREAKING Bioware game, and I'm out of options. I just feel like romance options add a whole new level of customization to the table. You can choose race, gender, class, AND who you get to bone? Sign me up!
I steered away from all romance in Mass Effect. Not that I have anything against it being an option, that;s just how I roleplayed it. I'm the captain here, I'm not going to engage in such relationships with my crew. We're saving the galaxy people, let's be professional about this.

As for non-Bioware games I think The Witcher and Alpha Protocol are your best bets. Though it sucks that The Witcher 2 basically ignores your choice from the first game. Of course I assume that when you say "every Bioware game" you also mean both Knights of the Old Republic, not just Mass Effect, Dragon Age and Jade Empire?

vicklemos: Humm why is that? I began playin' this one (loved it) but had to give up for time issues :)
Can you fall in love with, you know, that first showcased female character? Really?!
I haven't played the game, i've only read comments about it, not going to dwell on it since i don't want to spoil anything, but yeah, there's some weird romance option on that game...

Hum... probably those who like "paneleiros" stuff on their games. :P (kiddin')
I'm cool with it, just don't care :D

Uhm, that word that you used is a slang for other type of romance, not the one that i was referring to.

They aren't pure RPGs (more like RPG/Visual Novel hybrids), but a lot of the Winter Wolves RPGs have romance in them.

markrichardb: Ok how about Expeditions: Conquistador. Again you can play male or female, and there's a bunch of romancable characters. Not quite the depth of a Bioware RPG because its a smaller Indi game, but they're there.
This game is worth playing regardless, and there are a number of situations that crop up where you're dealing with relationships between your main character and other people, so it's worth checking out if you're into more than just the bog-standard romance a la BioWare.
Hard to think of anything outside of what others have already mentioned, Bioware is simply unique in that :).

Maybe you would be interested in Winter Wolves Games ( http://www.winterwolves.com/ )? Portfolio is mostly full of visual novels but there is a couple of RPGs too - http://www.winterwolves.com/pc_games.php

The storytelling isn't exactly on a par with Bioware but if you are up for some silly fun, you might enjoy it.

Oooh, that's a good suggestion. Great game.

If memory serves, there are romance options in Planescape:torment as well.

markrichardb: Oh wait, I've got some! The shotgun wedding in Fallout 2. Male or female, you can be forced to marry the son or daughter of some farmer, and they tag along with you for the rest of the adventure generally being useless and boring... yeah. It would be nice if there was more conversation and they could handle a fight, a husband and wife team roaming the wasteland would kick serious bum.
That's not the only chance for 'romance' in Fallout 2, you can also seduce a druglord's wife (and maybe his son too, iirc), or even become a pornstr in Reno.

Wow, I didn't have the slightest idea. I guess I was too busy dying in wildness :D. Should have resume it from backlog one day.

lol I knew it!
hoooooly crap!
Neverwinter Nights, if you play custom campaigns and modules.
Quest for Glory V
Vampire The Masquerade: Bloodlines has a few characters you can have a relationship with (using the term relationship lightly), and the game generally lets you flirt (and be flirted with) with nearly everybody you meet, there are even times where seduction gets you through a quest easier. Of course none of it is the lovey dovey kind of romance...well except for Good ol' Officer Chunk.
Wow, no one here has played Saints Row 4.
