martigasin: just hit the news Sony bought robotech license to produce franchise yes!! i´m so happy! finally . poor tobey maguire i hope he gets cast in something (he used to have the rights with warner)
Gersen: "Robotech"... usually anything with Robotech in the name is bad news...
This. A million times, this. Not to mention that now we'll have hordes of people using the name "Veritech Fighter", etc.
Gersen: I just hope that it will mean that it will now be easier to have newer Macross stuff released outside of japan. (Or it could be the start of a new legal battle.)
Considering the tenacity with which Harmony Gold has held on to its stranglehold on Macross in North America, I wouldn't hold my breath. It makes me weep though. I'm ready to throw my money at any company (except Harmoney Gold) who can do a proper North American DVD box set release of Macross Zero and Macross Frontier.
Tarm: Sony. Great a lot of small robotech games for mobiles...
Actually, I could see the Super Robot Wars series of games (from Bandai, right?) doing well on mobile devices. But I can only imagine the nightmare of IP licensing that that would entail.
