There will be blood. Delicious blood.

Vampire®: The Masquerade - Bloodlines™, the timeless RPG masterpiece that has sucked many a gamer's time, is now available, DRM-free on GOG.com.

Intoxicating. Macabre. Vital. These are both traits of blood and of Vampire®: The Masquerade - Bloodlines™, the RPG that forever changed expectations on how the creatures of the night should be depicted in videogames. Was it the ridiculous replayability? The versatility of our vampiric abilities? The gripping visual and sound design? Perhaps the memorable NPCs and stellar writing. One thing is for certain: much like the daunting Antediluvians, this is a game whose allure only grows stronger with time. No point in resisting it any longer.

Sink your teeth into the definitive bloodsucking experience that is Vampire®: The Masquerade - Bloodlines™, DRM-free on GOG.com.

Note: This version includes third-party technical fixes, courtesy of Wesp5. The full unofficial patch, which also includes additional content, can be found over at Patches Scrolls.

JudasIscariot: We offer a patched as well as an unpatched version of the game.

shmerl: Can full Wesp patch be applied to GOG installation? I.e. one that adds additional level, more weapons and etc.?
You should be able to do so with no problems :)

Great, thanks!
It's my favorite game of all time, thank you so much GOG!

Thanks! Trying it now. So far the game installed very well in Wine, no overrides were needed.

EndlessKnight: Does anyone else find it mildly amusing to see a game using the Source engine (From Valve, the owners of Steam), for sale on GOG? I think the irony is wonderful!
avatar
mechmouse: No the real kicker is Source was optimised for ATi cards.
VTM:B was optimised for Nvidia.

I don't know if this was to blame for it being buggy on both
avatar
JMich: Thank you, I went by what was reported previously in the thread.

mechmouse: I can confirm, I had problems getting it working from disc on win7 a few years back. It took a few hours of web searching and testing to get it to install.
Bloodlines uses an earlier pre-Half-Life 2 build. This alone is not the reason for all the bugs, that is mostly down to rushed development and perhaps unfamiliarity with the technology. A few hundred engine updates later it is barely even the same foundation any longer.

Being "optimised" is almost entirely a marketing ploy that is only relevant in the first few weeks after a major game release. It only means ATi or NVIDIA were given time to fix up their drivers to coincide with the release, the competitor having to wait until after the game is released to tweak their drivers accordingly.

The problem with the Bloodlines retail copies, I believe, is that the installer does not work on 64-bit operating systems and you need to disable Data Execution Prevention in windows to get around some other installer related issue.

That sounds familier. I'm sure I used a 32bit VM to install then copied the install folder. I remember it being painful.
It's a pity though the OST wasn't released with the game.

Track listing is what you want to see. Keep that noted and in mind...

Then go to the directory gog bloodlines was installed and follow this path:

" Vampire\Sound\Music\Licensed "

Compare and contrast. Hell, most of the tracks are even numbered right as if they had been on the OST CD itself!

The only track missing is "Needle's Eye", from Die My Darling! But the track listing says: " Used in-game radio"!

Go backwards to Vampire\Sound, this time enter "Radio"! It is the very last file, radio loop 5 was it? It starts at 12:35!

Then, if you are a true fan like me, copy the tracks in a new folder, in the right order and burn your very own BLOODLINES SOUNDTRACK CD! The only thing missing is going to be the official video from "Swamped" track, but hey, at least i set you up with more than enough material! Have fun!

Great stuff! Glad to have it here!

Now bring Overlord 2 into GoG.com too!

Yeah, I know. But original is lossless, and game only has mp3 audio.

What is the command line parameter that's needed to launch the game with unofficial patch? I just saw it somewhere, but can't find it now.

Ah, found it. It's in readme for the patch:
-game Unofficial_Patch

Cylnar: I saw this bit of copy...

"Note: This version includes third-party technical fixes, courtesy of Wesp5. The full unofficial patch, which also includes additional content, can be found over at Patches Scrolls."

Is there any chance of us getting a version that does NOT include any third party alterations? Just the basic game, patched to the last official 1.2 version, would be terrific, and it would allow players to choose whether or not to apply a particular fan patch/mod, or an alternative they prefer.

To be specific: Wesp5's UP is not the only game in town. I prefer the more purist approach of Tessera's True Patch Gold. I am not here to start anything with Wesp5's supporters, and as it currently exists GoG's version of VTMB will be incompatible with the TPG anyway. But GoG, if you care about providing options for your customers, please consider releasing the 1.2 version of Bloodlines as an alternative download for the rest of us.
You are in error. Your gamereview on the official gamecard page is also in error.

omega64: 17,59? O_o
I think I picked it up for about 5 on Steam a year ago.
Yeah the price is a bit steep for me too, at the moment, but I'm very very glad it finally got here!
Oh tytytytyty :D
Instabuy, even though I still have the CD lying around.

Yeah I just verified it myself :)

So for anyone else looking to run the game unmodded in Wine just do:

$wine vampire.exe -game Unofficial_Patch
