T-Rex cutlets is what's for dinner.

Turok, the remastered fast-paced jurrassic FPS, is available now DRM-free on GOG.com with a 20% launch discount.

Remember when dinosaurs were all the rage and aliens were still scary? Ah, yes, the 90s. What a magical time to be growing up. Imagine a jungle-like land populated with unfriendly aliens. Now throw in some aggressive flora for added inhospitality. Surely, dinosaurs are the next logical addition. No wait, make that dinosaurs with guns. All that's missing now is an angry Native American warrior of time-travelling heritage to clean up the mess and thwart a great evil in the process. There, pure 90s.

Thankfully, Turok is not in the habit of entering such exotic-but-hostile lands unprepared. Strapped across his back are all kinds of devastating weapons, from the not-so-humble bow and knife to handheld instruments of mass destruction like miniguns and rocket-launchers. Plus all the havoc they wreak now looks extra spiffy in this remastered version, thanks to widescreen and high resolutions support, improved level design and fancy lighting effects.

Bring an army of oversized reptiles closer to extinction as the legendary Turok, now DRM-free on GOG.com. The 20% launch discount will last until December 24, 17:59 PM GMT.

wormholewizards: What's so overpriced about it? Game is good, beside video games are like art - they're timeless.
Oh come on, a few years back a game like Turok would have gotten released for six bucks on GOG. And Turok really doesn't stand out very positively compared to other shooters of its time which are usually lower priced. I would understand a higher price point if it had been an actual remake but the remastering apparently only involved the kind of stuff that GOG and modders do anyway.

Klumpen0815: Thanks for the hint towards the HD textures for Thief, I'll have to get those. Are there similar ones for Thief 2?
Your welcome.

Yes, there are indeed HD Textures for Thief 2 also:

Awesome, thanks.
I mostly prefer upgraded classics to modern games and got a dedicated folder just for widescreen/HD hacks and textures on my drive that is regularly used.

:) That is really a good idea.

Look, a game like Unreal costs 10 EUR:

Nearly 20€ for this game?!
Something like 5€ sounds about right, 20€ is insane.
it would seem you have pushed your, as they say, luck.

that moment when you thought "nah, we can handle 20 instead of 15".

shoulda stuck with 15. (though people would still complain. but you wouldn't get all that communal consensus you just hate to see.)

if you want to charge 20 for a remaster of an old game, next time start with an RPG, and actually try to improve the graphics, and do what the mokey island remasters did, let people go from vintage to new with a toggle.
high rated

StingingVelvet: I was set to buy this for $5.99 or maybe $9.99 and then you made it $15.99 and I laughed and closed the page.
avatar
Crosmando: $6 or $10 would make sense if this was just the 1997 PC Port and that's it, but it makes sense that for all the many enhancements this version has that $10 or so would be added to the price. This isn't a straight re-release it's a fully HD remaster.
The pics don't make it look like a "full remaster." It looks like Turok in 1080p.

I'm with the ass on this one.

This is how I like to play my old games and I didn't even have to pay a cent for the upgrades in resolution, textures and controls:

Now why do those free upgrades even of some older games all look better than this $20 remake?
Don't get me wrong, I'm happy to pay for this stuff, but there are limits and the costs must be justified.

I'm not sorry for dropping this nostalgia bomb. :D

Playing games the way one remembers them often needs some tweaking of what one actually played, am I right? ;)

If I may ask please, what is the name of that Diablo 2 wide screen mod & from where did you download it?

D2MultiRes
Needs LoD v1.12, neither higher nor lower, exactly this version.
Works perfectly in LAN, played through it many times this way. :)

Thank you for the information, do you know of a high-res mod for 1.113d? I have been unable to find one in my own searches.
I guess you mean 1.13d. Afaik there is none.
Most of the changes seem to be Battle.net related anyway though and playing like this in Battle.net would get you banned, evidently.

When I want to play LoD with someone, I just make a fresh install, upgrade to 1.12 and run the hd-mod on this system and my notebook if I find someone to play it with (which was just one ex-gf by now).
A "Lord of Destruction - HD" LAN party with more than 2 people would be awesome.
I'd make one hell of a pizza for something like this.

Anyway, I'm getting carried away and this is a bit offtopic, sorry.
