I got it for a dollar on one of the Groupees bundles almost a year ago. It was a bundle that I didn't even know it was in (I have a habit of just buying their dollar bundles, a LOT of Night Dive games show up there).

It's an incredible game, well worth the price. My only gripe was that the campaign wasn't longer. Everything about it was just so fun.
It's not my cup of tea but it gives me hope to see here other Retroism's games that are already released on Steam.

IAmSinistar: (To be clear, I'm not blaming the devs. Rather, I suspect GOG is putting on pressure that games support their "optional" platform from Day One.)
avatar
clarry: That seems to have been the case. AIUI, the developers originally did a no-Galaxy build but GOG wanted Galaxy integration and someone with the power to make decisions wanted to comply.
Distributor specific platforms are a disease as long as there is no common standard or API. Forcing game developers to support a specific platform is even worse and GOG already may have gotten too big when they can do so. :(

docbear1975: Not a huge fan of FPS, but this one looks interesting. What are the RPG elements?

Pajama: All the info you need can be found here;

Hope this helps.
Found the info to be very helpful

To buy now (and add to already huge backlog) or to wishlist (which just keeps growing)?

Anime-BlackWolf: Yeah, the old Capstone Games would be nice, too.

"Witchaven", "Witchaven II - Blood Vengeance", "TekWar", "Operation Body Count".

They are quite trashy, but high class in comparison with today's Steam Greenlight crap.

But Capstone is long liquidated, I don't think there is enough interest for these. I would buy them all... ^^

tfishell: Actually, Night Dive are working on Witchaven :) - https://twitter.com/nightdivestudio/status/646753827480305666
NIce to know, Witchaven was a interesting game, even with the damn weapons which like to break in the middle of a fight...

It's like everyone is trying to make the PC into their own software console.

What has made PC gaming so great is not that it is just a console with better graphics (that's just a nice side effect of having interchangeable hardware), it's the wild nature of PC gaming. Console games are strictly locked, nothing gets in and nothing gets out without the developer's permission. But PC gaming has had mods and hacks from day one. How did Blizzard become the online powerhouse they are today? Through Battle.net, but Battle.net is nothing but a built-in Kali. People were tricking LAN games into online play using Kali so the game would think it was running in LAN when the data was sent over the internet. Before there was ingame voice chat we were using Team Speak and Skype. Before achievements we were making our own challenges and recording them. Entire genres started out as mods for other games. Trying to turn the PC into a virtual console is just wrong.
Weird, I love FPS but I'm not attracted to this one !
Great! Played this a lot in my old 486SX. The addition of a history and a living setting (with NPCs and all) was a huge leap from the first shooters. Even still having an old original, I'll buy for the added features.

Just a question: what exaclty are those "achievements"? If it is only a thumbs up and a pat on the back for doing something, I'm cool. But if it is game content that will be just acessible to whom use galaxy, I think that goes againts the spirit of old games...

As you say, it's just a little 'trophy' or 'stamp' for performing actions such as 'Completing the demo' or 'Ignite an Acolyte with a flamethrower and have his burning corpse ignite three others'.
I must confess I played quite a few fps in the 90s but this one I never even heard off. But definitely goes on my shopping list.

Ah, an interesting bit of history. I'll see to it, if it also encourages the release of the Hexen Series.
Instabuy.

No additional comment needed.
I just noticed, but its 66% off on Humble right now. *shrug*

True, but it's a Steam key. I much rather prefer DRM-free GOG.com version, so I don't mind paying a little extra for a (to me at least) superior product.
