The history of Star Wars™ is in your hands.

Star Wars™ Rebellion, a RTS/4X hybrid pitting Rebel forces against the Empire in control for the galaxy, is available now on Windows - for the first time in digital distribution - on GOG.com!

Star Wars™ Rebellion (AKA Star Wars: Supremacy) was the first chance that gamers ever got to experience the full scale of the Galactic Civil War. Not only that, but it was also a opportunity to actually impact (or even prevent!) key Star Wars events, decisions, and ultimately the outcome of the war. In Star Wars™ Rebellion you will either lead the Rebellion or ruthlessly quench it as the Galactic Empire, the two factions offer a degree of asymmetrical gameplay with just enough diversity to satisfy multiple playthroughs. The technologically superior Empire has one mission: to destroy the Rebel base, but they'll have to find it first. As a Rebel leader, your main concern will be to remain an unknown, moving target. Evade the reach of the Empire for as long as possible while amassing the support and firepower to strike back once and for all.

Shape your very own Star Wars timeline in Star Wars™ Rebellion, available now on Windows - for the first time in digital distribution - on GOG.com!

Licurg: The fuck is this thing ?
Didn't your parents explain that to you?

Oy, okay well you see when a man loves a woman and wants to be "with" her......wait I'd better start from the very beginning.

Now you have birds and bees.......
Another game wishlisted. I had forgotten about this game. Glad to see it again, along with battlegrounds saga.

Don't forget the bit about the midichlorians...

On second thought, forget I said that...
This game is hard and super fucking awesome.

Don't let looks deceive you, the game is excellent, flaws and lack of balance notwithstanding, even with dated graphics. This is what Master of Orion just wanted to be.
Glad to see the love this game is getting here! I remember it getting panned, but I always had a blast with it. It's been a few years since my last playthrough, but it's one of those games I used to fire up every few years and sink a couple weeks into it.

I love the use of characters.

Also, new players - specialize planets! I can remember reading the Thrawn Trilogy and the constant talk of the Bilbringi Shipyards - this game rewards you for stacking production types. Your construction of all things will slow to a crawl unless you make "uber" planets and a good transport system. Have a shipyard planet, a trooper production planet, a factory planet to make said production buildings. Then expand this concept into sectors.

You will need your talented diplomacy leaders to sway planets. You will have a bit of slow going at the beginning. You WILL need an Interdictor once you start building up a fleet capable of hunting down other fleets - hit and fade tactics in the beginning will mean you can jump fleets into systems to destroy resources - or have your own destroyed!

Planetary shields are your friends!
EVERY TIME I GO INTO THIS THREAD I CHANGE MY MIND ON THE DAMN THING!!! :P

You people are tearing me apart!!!!!!

Oh hey look, chips! :D

book99: Oh oh. Gee, I'm confused. Did the game company Rebellion make Star Wars Rebellion? Because, you know, it says Rebellion and we wouldn't want to get confused. I guess Rebellion will have to take Lucasfim/Disney to court and get this all straightened out like they did with Stardock and Sins of a Solar Empire: Rebellion.
Yes, I'm sure Lucasfilm/Disney is easier to sue than Stardock. It's not like they have an army of lawyers or anything, right?

It's a rebellion, man.
Think this one was called 'Star Wars Supremacy' in the UK. Good game, nearly finished it too. Will pick this one up later.
OMG

This is by far, without a doubt, one of the most underrated, overlooked games in gaming history

This is a *good* game. It's phenomenal. It is hours of rogue-like fun as the start conditions are randomized every time. It has tactics in the space-battles, it has strategy in planning what youll need or want to accomplish hundreds of game-days into the future

It is the best STAR WARS strategy game ever created.

Unfortunately, I feel it will be on one side of the divide between two groups of players. Mark my words, we will have a forum-war here on GOG between Team Empire At War and Team Rebellion

in any case, I wont be buying it just yet: my disc still works great in my "GOG laptop", but im glad I have a digital backup here on the site, but im more glad that Rebellion has a second chance to show the naysayers and the new players its stuff
So I'm looking to get into some classic Star Wars PC games and I did some research on this one. It seems it got some pretty bad reviews back in the day. Are those reviews justified or were they premature?

Hey,
I bought that game back in 1998 or so - right when it came out. The reviews really focused on the game play in the "3D" Battles and the UI. And they where and are bad. But the rest of the game (and that makes up for 90% of it) is a great Strategy game in a great, pre Prequel setting. So you wont find Naboo on the map, but you'll have all the things you want. Force, Battleships, Planetary bombardments, invasions, characters, infiltration and the like. All peppered up with some really nice cutscenes, which where used in various mods for Star Wars Empire at War.

In fact, most of the mods I played tried to get the feeling from Rebellion back - this time with some decent space battles.

It is hard getting used to the game (I would recommend the manual, which was in the original a real book!) but it will catch you. I play it every once in a while. In fact, I played it the last time when GOG announced the Lucas Arts first wave.
So the memory is quite fresh.

I already own a copy. But the original is quite a nuisance to get it running on new machines. I don't know if that is the case with the digital copy. If it works, write me! I would buy this game digitaly again.

You know ... buy it! I'll play multiplayer if that works. :D

gandalfnho: Never played Rebellion, how's the gameplay and difficulty (especially to non-4X players)?
I agree with what nobodyiknow said. But it's also a great gateway to 4x games. So if you are planing to dig around in this genre, this is a great title to start with. It has all the complexity but in a known Universe. So it's not so difficult to see what is good and bad, what works and what doesn't. After all: We all know that a Star Destroyer kicks serious ass <- It's not cursing when I'm referring to a donkey.

Thanks, I guess I will, when I get a few bucks. Kind of busted right now and it's winter so business is shit.

OOOOHHHHHHHH.... you said it... you said the dreaded "m" word...

tsk-tsk-tsk-tsk

You will purge that word from your mind, and never speak of it again!

Correct. SW Rebellion and SW Supremacy are the same game. Why it was changed for the UK release only Lucasarts knows.
