Take command of the greatest Star Wars™ battles!

Star Wars™ Galactic Battlegrounds Saga, an RTS classic depicting major conflicts of the Star Wars™ films, is available for the first time in digital distribution on GOG.com!

Released in 2001, Star Wars™ Galactic Battlegrounds was the first Star Wars™ RTS to find success among critics and fans alike. The game's basic formula was a recipe for success. It employed tried and tested gameplay mechanics inspired by the critically acclaimed Age of Empires series (Star Wars™ Galactic Battlegrounds was developed on the very same engine, which contributed to its overall familiar feel), and brought them straight into the realm of Star Wars™, offering fans a brand new way to influence the major conflicts depicted in Star Wars™ films.

The package available here includes the Clone Campaigns expansion pack, which introduced a whole new campaign covering the start of the Clone Wars, with two extra playable factions (CIS and Galactic Republic) and a slew of additional units. In total, Star Wars™ Galactic Battlegrounds Saga includes an impressive eight playable factions, each with its own story-filled single player campaign.

Take direct command of the greatest movie battles in Star Wars™ Galactic Battlegrounds Saga, DRM-free on Windows - for the first time in digital distribution - on GOG.com!

Fenixp: Yes, it's quite literally Age of Empires 2 with different music, units and campaigns from what I've seen. And there seem to be flying units.

tinyE: Yeah you get X Wings, Tie Fighters, Naboo Fighters, and some "special flyers" for each race which are more or less Nuclear Bombers.
or type "Imperial Entanglements" to get a Imperial Star Destroyer ;)
Oh I played this one quite a bit back in the day! Great release GOG!

I've had this game on disc for 8 years, playing it all the way through twice a year, and I'm just finding this out now? XD

haydenaurion: Never played this one before, but the video I found of Vader wrecking fools in an RTS has me sold on this one.
That may also be Empire at War.

Get both anyway.

oh boy tinyE, have I got great news for you... Type "Tantive IV" and "That's No Moon" for some extra fun. Also, "simonsays"
Nice, was waiting for this one. Is recommended for all fans of Age of Empires 2 (is almost a standalone mod with the extra inclusion of aerial units)

Sachys: So its basically Age of Empires, but Star Wars themed? PASS!

Edit: WAIT! I was thinking of Age of Wonders... so is this more like C&C / other era relevant RTS?

Oh indeed I do know, my best friend and I used to play the Xbox version of Battlefront 2 quite often. I'll be grabbing that one too.

tinyE: BEST RTS EVER!

Run don't walk, to get this title! Well if you don't like RTS or Star Wars then don't; save your money for that Witcher crap. :P Those intellectuals of you out there, with no lives that live with your parents and keep POD racer schematics on your wall, then follow me to heaven! :D
Just bought the whole "Wave"...I'm have become such a game-whore... -.-
What about Force Commander? :)
Yeah, I know it's crap and that's why I never bought it. Now I would like to give it a try :)

Force Commander is a very special level of crap, though. It may be the one and only RTS I ever quit playing only two missions in. Especially considering how much I loved everything Star Wars back then it means a lot.

But it looked so good on those screenshots I've found! :(
I tried a demo of Force Commander and found it almost unplayable, and coming from me that's saying something.
Woo! Thank you GoG. I absolutely loved this game. A fabulous RTS (based on AoE 2 as has been mentioned, so of course it would be) with loads of great stuff.

Nice price too, will probably be buying as soon as I can afford it :D
