An iconic classic, fully remastered by the team at Nightdive Studios, through its proprietary KEX engine, allowing the game to run on modern gaming devices at up to 4K resolution at 120FPS.

STAR WARS™: Dark Forces Remaster is now out on GOG!

Expect all fourteen original levels, featuring Star Wars™ worlds and capital ships, engaging first-person ground combat featuring ten weapons and twenty types of enemies, Personal Digital Assistant (providing you with in game information such including map, inventory, and mission briefing), modern gamepad support, controller support, advanced 3D rendering, up to 4K 120FPS visuals, and much more!

The original 1995 STAR WARS™: Dark Forces raised the bar for FPS games, offering players a significant degree of movement and interactivity, a large selection of items and power-ups, and engaging environments.
In that iconic title you assume the role of Kyle Katarn, a defector of the Galactic Empire turned mercenary for hire. Katarn joins the Rebel Alliance’s covert operations division tasked with infiltrating the Galactic Empire, where he discovers the secret Dark Trooper Project. The development of this powerful new series of Imperial battle droids and power-armored stormtroopers stands to strengthen the Empire’s grip on the galaxy unless Katarn and the Rebel Alliance intervene.

With STAR WARS™: Dark Forces Remaster, every new and returning player will be able to enjoy all of that with upgraded gameplay, high-resolution textures, enhanced lighting and rendering, and support for gamepads.

That’s not all, though! For those who already own the classic STAR WARS™: Dark Forces – you get a -10% launch discount on the Remaster, until April 29th, 2 PM UTC!

Make sure to check it out – with Nightdive Studios behind the wheel, we couldn’t be more excited!
Awesome

Some people here complain about the asking price and I can only agree with that.
In my opinion, half would be completely fine.

I was happy to pay the 40 bucks for System Shock, but here ~30 bucks for a bit of polish? Nope!
I'll just stick with my original in the nice cardboard box and ignore this release.
Sorry NightDive, but that's really an exaggeration.

Yeesh, that's quite a price.

As many others have said, this is way too expensive for an ancient game, and also they should be giving the original version free to all customers who buy the Remastered version, forever, and with that not tied to any time-limited promotion.
Oh , come on .

Already on the first place of the top seller's list ?
No wonder that there always is a push from devs/pubs for the removal of original titles, especially if there is a sourceport available. Hard to justify x5 price hike when the original remains available. Good for us though!

Mouselook in DF1 rubs me the wrong way because of how unnatural it is and how it skews the perspective. I don't think there are many instances where you need to tilt the view up/down, except for maybe a secret or two.

Yeah, I thought that spot was reserved for CP2077: Phantom Liberty outside of sales. Weird!

Uff, that´s quite a price :/

I was decided to buy it on the release day, purely to support NightDive, but considering I have finished the game with Force Engine approximately a year ago + the asking price is a bit too steep for my liking, I´d rather wait for a discount. Had the base price been 20€, I would just pay it.

I really do hope it sells well though, I´d love to see Dark Forces II remastered.

EDIT:// So only now my discount kicked in and for 25€ I am gonna bite the bullet and support them.

Try out the Force Engine (modern port for DF1 - you still need DF1´s data files to play it), there´s no skewed perspective there + you can use quicksave/load during missions, if you wish + message pop-up if you discovered a secret (no need to check the menu anymore).

Aye cheers! The force engine is epic. I've only tried it once, but it's very legit and one of strong reasons to stick with the classic version... which I've played like 8 years ago, to full completion on Hard difficulty and finding all the secrets and eastereggs. Some spots gave me a headache.

This is the era of remakes, remasters. For me and all of those that played the original game imo has not sense to buy it again, and the price is too high, having in mind that original game was sold at a 90% of this new price on sales.

I can live with the old graphics, same gameplay.
The only good thing about GOG's unwillingness to add a separate section for unsupported, but compatible older operating systems in their game cards is that I can spend my gaming budget on other things instead, like building more hosts for gaming capable Windows 7 VMs and maxing out my older systems with stuff like the Orpheus II sound card and 2.5" PATA SSDs until I get round testing that I can run at least 5% of my current GOG collection with WINE on a Linux VM.
Damn, I was waiting for this game, but with that price, it's a lot of money here... even more for a remaster! Waiting for a sale!

We got three games with completely new textures and models recently with the Tomb Raider remastered collection and people complained about the price (which was less than this one if you got the loyalty discount) ... it was clear to me that people would complain about the price here as well. Honestly I would agree price is too much for my taste as well. For the same price one could get Uncharted ... which again are two games. However everybody will decide for themselves if the asking price is worth it or not ... as usual. For me I'd say the original is enough for me for now. :)

MaxFulvus: The price is insane, even with the -10% launch discount !
Have you seen the review from the verified owner ?
This is just lazy. The screenshots only include the cutscenes.and only the first few seconds.
Price is always a secondary issue for me, we all know that sooner or later there will be some discount that will bring the cost down to more acceptable levels.
Even I, despite being a big Star Wars fan, at least of the old continuity, and this being the first game of the saga with achievements on GOG, will wait for better times. ;)
