Sokobond, a game of puzzles and chemistry, is available now for Windows and Mac OS X, DRM-free on GOG.com, with a 50% launch discount.

Opposites attract, like dissolves like, matter is always conserved - that's all most of us remember from high school (some of us just read it online like ten minutes ago). Sokobond is a puzzle game grounded in the simple concepts of chemistry. A logical, minimalistic design matches the deceptively basic rule-set with a simple premise: manipulate a single atom to form chemical bonds and molecules. Varied, tough, and logical - Sokobond is everything you could want from a pure puzzle experience. No prior chemical knowledge is required to enjoy the game, but a tiny bit might help. You may just learn a thing or two as you tackle these increasingly sophisticated puzzles.

Sokobond, a gamer's crash-course in chemistry, is available now DRM-free on GOG.com. The 50% launch discount will last for one week, until Thursday, March 12 at 11:59 AM GMT.
This is the kind of thing that's up my alley :D
Strongly recommended for every puzzle games lover! I had a real blast playing it, some levels seemed to be impossible at the beginning but then I had a lot of satisfaction after beating them!
Looks like my type of game :)
I just love how the gamecard states "No chemistry knowledge required" :D Good, because frankly, I know more about how to fly a plane than I do about chemistry ._.
I'll have to look it up. I love SpaceChem, so this might be interesting.

GOG.com: Opposites attract
There is a well known experiments where two highly and opposite charged droplets do not really attract each other but bounce off each other.
avatar
GOG.com: like dissolves like
Ethanol (very polar) can dissolve both very polar and very non-polar compounds
avatar
GOG.com: matter is always conserved
Energy, not mass is always conserved (mass is in fact a form of energy). The simplest example: annihilation process. Both electron and positron have mass while emitted photons do not.

A-pain-in-the-neck-physicist mode off

Move along, nothing to see here. Sorry but I couldn't resist ;P;P;P

aww, no soundtrack or other extras? Though I guess Sokobond avatars wouldn't be very exciting :P
This reminds me of a game i played a while back on the atari... what was it called? Hmmm...

To be honest, I think Sokobond avatars would be kinda cool, and distinctive enough in a gaming context.

A pity more devs don't think to create the simple extras like avatars or a couple of wallpapers. They're so quick to produce, but still make it look like they cared about adding value when they're unable to include manuals, soundtracks or expansion packs, like the older releases.

As for the game: I already own Sokobond, and enjoy it, although it's not on my list of favourite puzzle games from the last couple of years. The mechanics are very simple (there's a reason it's named after Sokoban) but the chemistry connections add some enjoyable complexity, and it can get quite brain-taxing in later levels. I think it's a good addition to the GOG library. Hopefully we'll see some more indie puzzlers in the future.
this thing starts as easy-peasy, but gets hard as hell eventually - I love the gameplay and the calming music, but I'm just too stupid to finish this :P

Ghorpm: Atomix?
Atomix is certainly the game I thought of seeing the screenshots for this game although I only played the MS-DOS version.

That was my first thought as well, although I'm more familiar with the Amiga version.
