anothername: Right now I use the one I mentioned and it does look stable. Took a peek at the other mods and some appear to be followups? Or variations? Not sure which one I should go with. Is there one mod to rule them all?

Also I heard that game has some really REALLY lousy level scaling as it plays on; Vanilla Oblivion bad like. I guess mods help here too?

Gylfe: GoF and Combined Mod are definitely the way to go. I have to admit, I've never played ERAS2 and don't really know anything about it. What I will tell you is that GoF and Combined Mod are done by the guys at PiratesAhoy!, which do absolutely fantastic work on these games. They have been doing mods since the Build Mod for Pirates of the Caribbean, which is amazing. I followed that since they started it and it's a masterpiece. The GoF and Combined mod fix most of the bugs these games are famous for, upgrade the graphics and performance and such, and add tons of ships, characters, locations, and even quest lines. Just visit http://www.piratesahoy.net/ , it's the ultimate source for the series. PoTC came out in 2003 and is part of this series, I think they started working on the Build Mod in 2004 and have been working with the engine ever since. If I'm not mistaken, they are doing their own game, or have something to do with the Hearts of Oak game (http://www.indiedb.com/games/hearts-of-oak).

From what I understand, the Eras 2 mod is more of a realistic mod adding ships and such from that era. The standard mod adds most or all of the same content, but also has the Pirates of the Caribbean ships and all. I guess the CM Eras 2 is more for a non-fiction experience.
Since they do not suggest (as in talk about even the possibility) using both GoF & CM together over in the PA forums I go with a fresh install with CoF2.0 + latest known stable 1.3 patch. From the description (and the massive Mod size) I guess its one to rule them anyway :)

Hearts of Oak looks awesome & had a chuckle at the (even if not intended) Hearts of Iron pun :D
But the whole thing reminds me of Star Trek Excalibur. High profile free professional looking game in the making by a group of very skilled modders/coders/artists in their free time to be released... at some time in the far future... maybe... don't get hopes up; but hey, look at this great screen & that awesome video :P

I just don't know why you can hate this game yes it is old but with some tweeks in the folder and some mods it can become a VERY enhotable game.

But GOF is a big mod of the whole game and angelisdsb doesn´t want to use a mod of this game.
