Kunovski: (...) meeting the first Licker!
That's what she said...
"STARS!!" ... Oh wait, that's part 3. =P Probably will nab the trilogy once all of them are out. I've been too busy with other stuff/games. *shrug*
Yay!

.Keys: Congrats on the Resident Evil 2 release GOG!
I will be waiting for the whole trilogy as one package though.

Although until then I have one question for those that already bought it and are already playing it:

How many Ink Ribbons you get in the / by the side of the first typewriter inside the mansion (Not the mansion, I mean, the police station) the first time you enter there?
1, 2 or 3?

Also, can you find the secret ammunition in the garbage can behind the big green garbage can after the green stairs?
If yes, this is indeed the original first release version

Why are those apparently random questions are important:

These are basically signs that define what version of the game people are playing because the item placement changed from version to version and also quantity of zombies in the beginning of the game. They changed from ink ribbons from 2 to 3 if I'm not mistaken, making the beginning of the game much easier in later versions that are not the first version. Also, after the first green stairs in the original there are 4 zombies, 3 males and 1 female, while on later versions there are only 2 or 3, 1 female and 2 males/1 male. At least, this is what I think, feel free to correct me if I'm wrong.

The originals apparently were much harder, at least in the beginning of the game.
Do anybody have any info on that?
You can play both modes with the PC version by selecting either Original Mode (3 ink ribbons, less zombies, etc) or Arrange Mode (2 ink ribbons, more zombies, etc).

I keep seeing people complain that this doesn't have features that were found in other releases.
What part of "This is the original port of PC version" do they not understand?
Reading comprehension seems to be a lost skill.

Thank you for the polite answer sir/lady. :)
So let me see if I got this right:

Assuming here all three GOG RE versions will have an "Original" and an "Arrange" modes through which players will experience the unchanged item and enemy placements from the first release selecting "Arrange Mode" or choose to play a different and, by what I understood, easier version, selecting the "Original Mode"?

Is this inverted on purpose? lol
Names are confusing in this case.

This will get confusing, I agree. EDIT: I fixed the explanation about Original/Arrange since I was wrong. Original is USA mode and Arrange is japanese mode.

While the "first release" you mention is the one released worldwide for PS1, with 2 ink ribbons and such, the "first release" japanese people got was the easier one with 3 ink ribbons, etc.

When the Dual Shock Version was released in Japan, they included the gameplay mode everyone else got as "Arrange Mode" and added a new "Rookie" difficulty. But when the Dual Shock Version was released worldwide, the "Original Mode" was changed to be the international one and removed the option to play the japanese version, leaving only "Rookie" as part of the Arrange Mode.

PC port uses the japanese PS1 Dual Shock Version in terms of game modes included, but game modes have been reversed, with "Original Mode" being the harder international mode and "Arrange Mode" being the easier japanese mode. Both modes can be played in "Normal" difficulty or "Easy" difficulty, with "Arrange Easy" being "Rookie" (you start with extra weapons, ammo and unlimited gatling/rocket launcher). To compare, international PS1 Dual Shock Version doesn't have "Arrange Normal" as an option, only "Arrange Rookie".

A new addition for the PC version is being able to unlock "Hard" for both Original and Arrange, with even less ammo available and tougher zombies, but the starting 9mm pistol can headshot zombies.

Also, PC RE1 doesn't have Arrange Mode, game uses the easier japanese difficulty only.

Thank you very much for the throughout explanation!
Best explanation I've read so far. I'd say this should be pinned to explain to potential buyers what they get with this GOG release.
It's not that simple as read "Original = First Release" as some have said because often translations and re-releases changes names from modes and versions, specially when they're West/East based like in this case and things can and will get confusing for those that have never played the originals, I mean, the West / USA / PS1 versions.

It's confusing for me that have been in contact with Capcom since then but never had this kind of in depth info before, so, really thank you. :)

You are correct, tested it right now and they are reversed. Original is USA mode and Arrange is japanese mode, I was wrong.

EDIT: Found the source of my confusion. Installing the game in any language other than japanese uses Original = USA and Arrange = Japan, but installing the game in japanese uses Original = Japan and Arrange = USA. As far as I know, the SourceNext version released years later uses that same order too.

Hahahaaha No wonder you got confused... And since I think SourceNext ver. IS THE ONE BEST etc. everybody use, such mistake is easy to make :)
And there's barely a discount for buying the set in Mexico. Again.

A single game is $5.10, the whole set is $15.13. Meanwhile in the US it's $9.99 per game, 24.99 for the trilogy.

Come on. Is GOG really ditching fair regional pricing now? That was the main reason that I bought stuff here, but between this and Doom being randomly MORE EXPENSIVE in my region...

Er... that does not make the game cheaper in your region?

I want to bring up, not the only user but perhaps we are invisible for a certain reason: Many regions including my "region", barely is getting a discount for the bundle, while other regions indeed got about 30% discount.

For my region, every single game is 9.50 and the bundle is 27.99 which is as good as no discount at all.

I do not care if the publisher want to charge 50 each and 120 for the bundle (or maybe 150 without any bundle cut at all... because it seems to be funny), if it happens to everyone, but this "unequal treatment" got no good smell.

This is the only reason why i did not buy it so far...
