Blood of the ancients.

<span class="bold">Pharaonic</span>, a challenging 3D sidescroller where you duel Egyptian ne'er-do-wells and ancient monsters, is now available for Windows, Mac, and Linux, DRM-free on GOG.com, with GOG Galaxy support for achievements (Windows and Mac only) and a 20% launch discount.

The rulers of Egypt were never known for their forgiving and amicable disposition and the mysterious Red Pharaoh is probably the most ruthless among them. In order to have a chance against him and his hard-hitting minions, you shall perfect your combat skills, refine your tactics, and always be on your guard. Do you prefer an agile style, with quick cuts and nimble maneuvers, or are you going in full-force, hoping to dish out more punishment than you can withstand? Your character is heavily customizable thanks in no small part to the hundreds of equipment pieces that you'll find, in hopes that they can help you stand a better chance against the unforgiving bosses and traps. But against such insurmountable odds, you will also need the aid of the gods, so make sure to put the spellcasting powers they grant you to good use.

Use your wits, strength, and tactical prowess to duel the ancient monsters that stand in your way in <span class="bold">Pharaonic</span>, DRM-free on GOG.com.
The 20% discount will last until October 26, 12:59 PM UTC.

Ancient Egypt! *shakes fist*
Intrigued. Will wait for reviews or at least initial feedback first though.

I'm particularly concerned about the word "unforgiving", which is usually PR code for "we made it brutally hard to disguise the fact that we suck at AI coding and game difficulty balancing".

That being said, Milkstone Studios, for all the little PR exposure they seem to get, does have a ridiculously good track record to date.

That is a 400 mb download?

I have 2 Gb games that don't look nearly that good.

This computer magic....it frightens and confuses me!

This is the power of Unity :P

(it also helps that there is no voice acting in the game so that also slims down the game somewhat :P )

well.... they made Ziggurat, if that's what you mean...
The old (past) me would love the challenge that this seemingly presents. *Rant omitted*

I think Serpent of the Staglands had some crazy small download size, but when you installed it, it was like 10 or 20 times its installer size.

Oh my god your avatar is a creature I've loved and feared more than anything else in gaming history. You monster, you.
"Sidescrolling combat-RPG" pushes all my buttons. :-) I'll definitely be picking this one up. And that reminds me, GOG still needs to bring us Fortune Summoners, which despite its appearance is also one of the most unforgiving games I've ever played.

Yeah I love it, but GOG's reoccurring bug won't make it my main avatar! I feel sad and despondent! I cry.

And OT, I hated Ziggurat with a passion so let's hope this is nothing like it. :D

Because it very well may be? :P
Does the game have any randomization?
Hmm, a new one from the Ziggurat folks, eh? I rather liked that game, though it is brutal. This one looks like I'll get about two levels into before rage quitting. But perhaps the reviews can persuade me otherwise.

Oh, and the Red Pharaoh - any relation to Pyramid Head? ;)
