Theatricality and deception are powerful agents.

Masquerada: Songs and Shadows, a stylish RPG of artful deception and real-time-with-pause combat, is now available, DRM-free on GOG.com.

Keep the aristocracy elevated far above the underprivileged for long enough and turmoil will certainly ensue. Even in Citte della Ombre, this beautiful Venetian-escue city, where elaborate masks grant magic powers to their owners. Living in exile for past transgressions, you are now summoned back to form an elite task force and investigate the mysterious kidnapping of an upstanding citizen. But can you truly trust those giving the orders or even your own companions?
Whether you enjoy swift, chaotic battles that require sharp reflexes and split-second decisions, or prefer to plan and fine-tune your every move, Masquerada's flexible combat system will feel equally fun and challenging. Especially when accompanied by the dramatic narrative and incredible voice-overs, provided by the likes of Jennifer Hale and Matthew Mercer.

Get entangled in a dramatic tale of dark conspiracy, powerful magic, and intricate lies in Masquerada: Songs and Shadows, DRM-free on GOG.com.

Is it just me, or has GOG been putting out a lot of new releases lately?
I like this trend. Let's keep it going.

JudasIscariot: Hi folks,

We've ran into some issues with the Mac version at the very last minute and we could not release it. We are working with the developers to ensure we get you the Mac version as quickly as possible, thank you for your patience and understanding :)

Looks nice.

But "fully voiced by VO heavyweights", like ramen surpassing cigs in desirability in prisons, is not a good sign, obviously.
This looks right up my alley, and it's nice that we get the game almost at the same time as Steam for once, but I think I'll wait a bit before buying since the developer is unknown to me.
Everything but the art style sounds/looks good to me.
I'm curious to see what the reviews and such will be for this one.

Not sure what you mean.
What's so bad about quality voice acting?
The game looks great. I will have to look into it a bit before I commit to buying at full price.
Looks badass, will consider.
Wow, only just spotted this in the upcoming. Didn't release this was releasing so soon.

Looks really interesting. Wishlisted definitely, probably wait for a discount or some reviews.

In theory, nothing. In practice, voice acting, especially for the PC, often means dialogue that has less options, is shorter and overall less interesting, and it can also mean that resources were diverted from other areas of the game since voice actors aren't cheap.

It also might mean you can't skip it, which annoys the hell out of me as I'm a fast reader (and often play games without sound at all) and it leaves me waiting for spoken dialogue to finish long after I've read the text.

Sadly this is also my experience.

Huh, weird.
Maybe I'm just too used to adventure games where you can almost always skip dialogue at your leisure.
