The clockwork metropolis.

Lethis - Path of Progress, the steampunk city-builder with the Victorian backdrop, is available now, DRM-free on GOG.com with a 50% launch discount.

It may not be such a powerful word today, but there was a time when all people were talking about was the energy revolution of steam. It's easy to see why, as it was pretty much what brought the wonders of mass production to everyday life. Lethis is a Victorian world drenched in that mix of romantic steampunk aesthetics and aggressive resource consumption that calls for firm management and an eye for innovation.

The introduction of steam applications opens up a wonderful, cartoony world of opportunities. But before you can block out the sun with your fleet of zeppelins or give your people that huge observatory, you must first tend to your production lines, make sure to keep your workers happy, and establish profitable trade routes for the glory of the Empire. Mass production brings mass management problems and mass expectations from the masses. But bold science and smart coordination will help your lovely cities reach their full industrial potential and maybe raise a majestic monument or two.

Discover the excitement and far-reaching decisions that come with industrial revolution in Lethis - Path of Progress, DRM-free on GOG.com. The 50% discount will last until March 5, 1:59 AM GMT.

HypersomniacLive: It's not secondary to me. And on that note - that's some ugly stuff, and sadly neither new nor going away.
It's secondary to GOG.

And yes, there is nothing surprising about payola. Far too many people in this world don't want to compete on their own merits, and instead prefer to cheat. And far too many greedy bastards enable them to do so.

Thank you, I'll go be depressed in a dark corner now.

Anger is a much better reaction. Well, warmer, anyway. ;)

Ah yes, one of these days I must succeed in mastering it.

*makes note to work on it with religious dedication*

eiii: It has no Linux version, so does the Windows version run under Wine (unfortunately there's no appdb entry)?
It's pretty glitchy in Wine. On my nVidia laptop it's playable with Wine 1.9.5, it has a tendency to freeze up while trying to load a map then eventually starts up. On my AMD rig it gets to the menu but will never load a map, it freezes on the same spot my laptop does but never actually loads. It's probably fixable but i'm not a real pro at troubleshooting Wine yet. :P
Caveat emptor:

I do not recommend that you purchase this title if you are running an older version of Windows. I tried to install this on Windows XP, and GoG eventually confirmed to me that it cannot run it. After you double-click on the application, you will just get a Win32 error.

If you're wondering why I tried to run it on Windows XP, it's because my laptop does not have a dedicated graphics card, whereas my older desktop does. Which brings me to my second point: Lethis cannot run using an integrated graphics card. You will be able to boot the game, but the buildings will not appear on screen.

Quite a shame, really. The game looks pretty fun. Maybe I'll pick it up down the road.

Well, GOG doesn't mention XP or Vista under "Works On".

Small update about Wine support:

After latest Wine 1.9.5 update game works without any issues on R9 270x and OS Linux Mint 17.3. Previously it was stuck on the first loading screen before the menu and was unplayable. Now there are no issues. So new update for Wine + new mono version installed (as always after wine update).

You might want to post that in the Wine thread named after ...me. Please let people know if they need to use any winetricks or workarounds :)

Thanks both of you for reporting!

As the game in general seems to be a bit critical about the system it runs on I'll wait for a higher discount to not burn too much money on it. And as I haven't even played Pharaoh I have time to wait. ;)
