blotunga: You guys rock. IG2 is my favorite real-time 4x game.
You have good taste.

this was the fastest instabuy I've ever had on this site. Probably because I joined way after DX got released, but still.

been waiting for this so long....

one thing though
when i play i cant see the whole of the screen. cant see an option either to change resolution or im not sure what to do to be fair....
anyone having the same problem or anyone got any ideas how to fix it ?
Having the same issue here, cant even start the scenarios. Maybe it's related to widescreen monitors,

Edit: i found a workaround. Changing the resolution from 1920*1080 to 2715*1527 makes the complete game screen visible, so until a patch fixes this, ill be swaping between the 2.

Very closely actually. With the mechanics having been changed to fit into an RTS game of course.

I has colony management similar to GalCiv 2. You have a limited area of real estate to put buildings on. Each building requires power (except your colony hub and generators) and a certain number of people to operate, so especially on new colonies you will need to toggle buildings on and off to suit your needs.

It has ship customization and tactical space combat like MOO 2.

Unless you play the totally warlike Kra'Hen, you have trade, diplomacy and espionage to complement your military actions. As the Kra'Hen, diplomacy is limited to meeting new races and preserving their heads as trophies.

Research features twists similar to Sins. You need a certain number of operational research structures(of certain types, there being 3 types of research buildings!) before you can start researching a certain improvement, and research takes a certain amount of time and money to complete.

Ground combat is actually more detailed than any of the major 4x games i know of. While it is simplistic in its objectives, the different ground weapons you can research, the overpowered defensive structures and the fact that you can choose to not eliminate the defences but instead do as much damage as possible to whatever parts of the base are undefended(making a later attempt easier, or even causing the planet to revolt) add some interesting twists.

Like MOO, it has random events, and while the campaign, the meat and potatoes of the game, only has 3 playable races, there are other races, and in multiplay/skirmish gameplay they can even be played!

Exploration is also a notch above most other 4x games. At the start of the game you know nothing. You have to cover every inch of the galaxy with your sensors at least once to see what's out there. You are free to travel between the stars as you wish, like MOO and GalCiv, but the farher away you are from your nearest colony, the less effective your ship's sensors get, turning you eventually blind to what is happening around you.

I could go on, but suffice to say that if you enjoy MOO, GalCiv, SOTS or Sins, you will definitely enjoy this game!
Hello. In the general view, I can't right-click my fleet onto enemy fleets. I can't attack pirates for example, i have to wait for pirates to attack me. I also can't change game speed with keyboard (1,2,3).

Also, can't colonize or terraform planets...

Finally!! Thank you GOG.

I`ve had the cd version for years but I`m happy to have a "modernised" version.
Just remember to bring on Shogun Total War 1 and Medieval Total War 1 to your catalogue as well:)

I have experienced the glitch with not attacking neutrals on a right click, and not being able to change speed with the number keys or pause with space, but i was able to colonize and terraform.

With those, it is important to keep in mind that you do NOT simply do those by moving your terraformer or colonizer ships onto the star system you want them to work on. you need to instead left click on the star and select the terraform or colonize icon from the context menu (Terraform looks like a star, colonize like a musical note sprouting from the planet's surface).

OK, thanks for the reply. Colonize takes a bit of a longer of a press than I've remembered. And when I split my fleet to take out any neutrals I can attack enemy fleets. The cursor normally changes to red, it didn't before.

Pause is now on "P" key, changing game speed seems to be a bug.

So, current bugs:

- can't change game speed with keyboard
- can't attack enemy fleets if my fleet includes ANY non-attacking ships (colony, terraform) [edit] No, even if I have only attacking ships in my fleet I can't attack enemy fleets. I could a couple of times, now it is again a normal move command. Seems to be a bug, not related to any civilian ships being in the fleet.

Holy... uooow!!

Finally, the wait is over.

After decades of searching everywhere to buy a copy of this jewel and wating for it to show up some digital store.
It had to be you guys!

Thank you GOG!!!
This is the game I have waited for since we could vote for games we would like to see on gog.

I am glad to own the game again, but there is also a sadness in what gog has offered in the manual.

I believe the printed manual for the US was in black and white, but the printed manual for the UK version was printed in color (I owned both).

Gog, please get the color manual as one of the downloadable goodies for this game.
The manual is much better in color.

I have some fond memories of taking this to the beach and other places just to enjoy reading to learn the game better.

Please, gog, please give us the color manual.

KajQrd: I really love the fact that it's not just the original version released with a patch to make it work on a modern OS but an update to make it work on widescreen monitors in native resolution as well.
Does it still also support 4:3 resolutions?
