It's great to see this here. I lost my discs years ago (actually a friend "borrowed" them and I never saw them again), so I will definitely be picking this up.

Thanks.
I'll pick both up in a sale at some point. Not my cup of tea so a bit too expensive. ;)

Thanks Nordic and GOG for releasing it though! :)) The more the merrier!

To this day it still amazes me how this game got made it has everything RPG mechanics like quests, Cutscenes, 3 Storylines/campaigns, a basic sim city game, ground combat, space combat, trading, espionage, dynamic events, one big map, ship design and research.. And probably a bunch more I'm forgetting.

After this game no game has surpassed it on the shear amount of content and gameplay the closest was Total War Shogun 2 and even with that it still falls short 17+ years Wow

Great. I can finnally uninstall the 17 year old demo and experience the full version.
This year really has started well on GOG, another great release. :) And it even comes with multiple languages and official Linux support. Thanks THQ Nordic and GOG!

Finally! Can't wait until I have a lot of time off so that I can learn to play this game. I used to get my ass kicked consistently with the demo years ago
Thank you SO much GoG this is am aboslute favourite of mine. There are so many elements you have not seen SINCE IGII.

One thing I can't figure out though is that my boxed version is 4 CDs but the page says the installed is not even 600 meg. Sure it would be compressed but is this the entire IG II still so it is still like my boxed version ?

This is of course an instabuy title.

:)
Insta-bought :)
Instabuy.
Still have the physical manual for it but all else is gone.
Probably lost when i moved house a few years back.

Just bought it and looking forward to remembering the great times I had with this game.

I still have the CDs but they are stored away, I am sure it came on 4 CDs but this is where my memory lets me down. I do know it was a large box and a double gatefold cd case :-)

Anyway I am off to install a classic
instant purchase!
been waiting for this so long....

one thing though
when i play i cant see the whole of the screen. cant see an option either to change resolution or im not sure what to do to be fair....

I've been wondering the same thing myself, especially since this version is apparently even enhanced with hi-res textures and such. I expect that the answer lies in part in modern compression techniques, and in part in the fact that on the original discs, a lot of the data was probably on all three of the campaign discs, in order to eliminate disc swapping.

Edit:
Yup, looking into the installed files, all the sounds are in .ogg format, and all the video is .mp4, neither of which I'm sure was used in the original game.

One of my favorite space games! Many thanks to make it available again and updated to modern times!
YESSSS! One of my all-time favorite 4X games, refurbished to run on modern hardware. This is nice, as getting the disk versions to run was terrible. It crashed so damned often I couldn't even record it well.

Can't wait to try this new version.
I am not sure if i said Instabuy for this title before, but since this release was within my hoped for timeframe of "hopefully in January", has been refurbished to run on win10 without monkeying around with unofficial fixes AND includes a port to Linux, i'd say my expectations on THQ Nordic's promise were exceeded, so...

BOUGHT! Give these guys some money!

Now i just need to download this beauty and then, KAMOTHATHAN!
