The last noteworthy revision or addendum was the "Sozialadäquanz" thing (allowing the display and depiction of swastikas and Third Reich-related symbols/insignia as long as it serves the arts, sciences and educational purposes).
As for hardcore/pornographic content in games the lines are still too blurry it looks like. What goes and passes in PEGI 18-rated movies apparently might be too much of a grey area when it comes to games.

And it likely comes down to GoG operating in this "grey area" with no real measures for age restriction/gating in place.
Meaning they likely could have offered the game uncensored right out of the gate with no manual decensoring necessary afterwards but chose to go the "better safe than sorry" route instead.

Although I do not like censorship at all I agree that when in doubt it's better to deliver a censored version to everyone with an easy way to uncensor it instead of blocking access in some countries.

Now they only need to add a Linux version. :P

Well, thank you for the additional link. Regarding my "unofficial sources" I intended to use instead in case I should need them, I was of course not talking about sources not known to me. It might surprise you but I know quite a few people here on GOG ... and there are several I trust completely :) But sure, having additional links to such crucial patches is always a good thing. Last but not least: in my experiences if nothing would go anymore a quick mail to the devs might have done the trick as well. I'd say we are now pretty save and while of course I would do prefer not having blocked OR censored the game at all ... I know that the unicorns are not here and that I'll probably have to wait a bit until I see some angels ... meaning - the world unfortunately is not fair, but sometimes I'll just have to make the best of it.

So the reason might not be any law but some peopel that feel offended and making pressure even though they don't have authority at all.

Though, this does ask the question as to why GOG doesn't have anything resembling age verification. On the other hand, they are looking for PHP programmers; nobody in their right mind would apply when there are objectively more sane ways to code; especially with the demands GOG makes of physical presence. (Node and python for example vs PHP without a framework.)

Good and accepted age verification is not that cheap to implement and GOG so far was unable to fix the forums which are broken since years ... so there's that ;)

Look. If there's a Unity plugin for COPPA that costs a buck, I feel like there's something compliant out there that GOG could implement very easily.

There's even federated systems such as AgeID and GOG already has half a system in place with a payment verification system; at the very least a slight step up from the honor system Steam uses.

Like I said, they did not even fix the forum since ages ... don't expect them to actually fix or improve things. Right now we are glad for each day it does not get worse.

Another game that I would have bought on release if I would still buy games here. Well, I'll get it on humble.
