The grandest of grand.

Europa Universalis III Complete, among the grandest of grand strategy games, is available now, DRM-free on GOG.com. Get 66% off your game, or an entire 75% off if you get it alongside the DLC Collection.

The Europa Universalis series is, without a doubt, one of the most legendary and influential grand strategy titles ever released. It singlehandedly spawned a generation of Paradox Interactive titles including Hearts of Iron, Crusader Kings and Victoria - all the while remaining the most well-rounded strategy simulator out there. Europa Universalis III is a great starting point on your grand strategy adventure, it'll give you the opportunity to learn the basics and try the many facets of Paradox's signature gameplay - and perhaps move on to a deeper, more focused experience. Or perhaps you enjoy being the lord of every domain. The choice, as always in Europa Universalis III, is truly yours.

You can also pick up the DLC Collection., full of additional content and full blown expansions including Heir to the Throne and Divine Wind.

Europa Universalis III Complete is now DRM-free on GOG.com, the launch discount will last for 5 days, until Tuesday, October 13.
It's definitely one of the more difficult strategy games. Whereas I never had any problems with Total War games, EU3 first overwhelmed me with a myriad of options, then the neighbouring countries took two thirds of my country. Then I gave up...

Nicole28: I tend to prefer the Crusader Kings 2 series set, having owned it on Steam myself. However, I'm happy to see more Paradox games getting their release due right here! Perhaps, Cities skylines will make it's debut eventually!
Not old enough. It seems Paradox games need to be aged a bit before they show up here, hence why no EU4, CK2 or Cities Skylines. Actually that seems to be the trend with most publishers on here, especially the newer ones added.
Cool! But.. what to buy?
EU2 vs EU3 vs EU4
HoI2 vs HoI3*
VC2 vs VC3
CK2 vs... CK3?

There is no VC 3 or CK 3.
Kind of want, but my problem with these Paradox games (I am not sure about EU3 specifically) is that with my poor eyesight I am not anymore able to comfortably read the messages on screen. And I have never found a way to increase the font size. Is there any option to change this in EU3, or an option to play the game at lower resolution?

Ah, I knew about CK3 but not about VC3.

I suffer from the same problems, my eyes aren't what they used to be anymore. I play it on 1024x768 and that's acceptable in my case, in every higher resolution the font is too small for me.
Nice release. Will definitely get the complete complete package (complete + dlc) at some later point. Still have a working retail version. Wishlisted.

My take is that if Paradox (or any other company) releases CK & CK2 (or EU, 2, 3 & 4) at the same time, who would buy the first one of the series when the latest installment is here too (provided that the latest games are better than the older ones)? Why not release them in chronological order as they've been released back then and have people buy them one by one? ;-)
Please GOG add EU3 and its expansions to the Reclaim page :)
I bought it on Impulse before it was sold and eventually closed, and I want my games back :(
Very nice. Can never have too many of these!

Grargar: What do you mean by originated? The country of the developers? Sweden.
avatar
vicklemos: No nope I know Paradox, swedish, yup ;P
I mean, the inspiration. Any other grand strategy game like it came before..... right? :D
The inspiration for Europa Universalis was a board game of same name, as for other grand strategy games like it... Imperialism is the only one that i know of and i think that's the first game of that genre. It focus on the same Age of Discovery era as Europa Universalis too with colonization of the new world.

I think only Paradox can help you with that. I would try to contact them if i were you.
Nice. On the wishlist it goes.
Cool game, GOG.
Thanks!
