Studying the anatomy of space demons.

Doom 3: BFG Edition is now available, DRM-free on GOG.com, with a 75% launch discount.
Back to reclaim its FPS throne, Doom 3 adds a strong dose of claustrophobic horror into the series' timeless cocktail of explosive action, horrific enemies, and ultra-violent massacre.

The BFG Edition is the game's remastered version, containing DOOM, DOOM II, DOOM 3, and DOOM 3: Resurrection of Evil, as well as The Lost Mission.

Feeling nostalgic or just awfully trigger-happy? Check out our Bethesda shooters sale.
The 75% discount will last until August 28, 1 PM UTC.

HenitoKisou: You are that type of person that will deny any fun and optional content for other people even if you personally will never use it but existence of it alone is triggering and infuriating. Don't get it, don't use it if you don't need it, it's not hurting anyone.

GreasyDogMeat: Where exactly did I say not to buy this version? I've clearly pointed out why it is inferior to the classic versions.

As an id Software/Doom fanboy I've pointed out it is worth picking up for the extra exclusive mission packs... and that's all it's worth picking up for.

EDIT: Looking at your screenshots of the menu and ending level statistics screen I'm beginning to wonder if the GOG version is modified from the Steam version. My Steam copy of BFG edition has the standard menu and ending screens... no new screens like those.

While I was certain you were full of shit when talking about extra enemies in Doom 3 BFG... if GOG Doom 2 BFG is modified perhaps GOG Doom 3 BFG is modified too? Whats going on here...

Within a few seconds you will see the menu screen... as you will see it's the classic Doom 2 menu.
2:47 in he beats the first level and the statistics screen is again the classic screen.

Yet another EDIT: IF this version is different/improved from the Steam version they should mention it on the store page. I'd be excited myself about an increase in the quantity of enemies.

GOG also fails to mention the inclusion of No Rest For the Living. Frankly it was the best part of BFG Edition IMHO. It IS part of the GOG version of BFG Edition... right?
No Rest For The Living is, indeed, included with the GOG version of Doom3: BFG Edition. I've been playing NERVE.WAD with the original version of Doom 2.

Thanks for clarifying. They should advertise it on the main page as it is a selling point of BFG Edition.
I have no reason to lie so screens of my box and couple of facts:
- it's 3CD EU/PL version
- can't set Pure servers for MP
- prepatched, can't apply US/NA patches or these versions of ROE
- I recall that ROE also added some new enemies and changes to the base game, but our version of ROE had missing some of the content namely the new enemies in the game and few other things.
- I remember that Steam version/post-ROE patches altered original game from retail.
- so for that reason I never played ROE, only retail because it wouldn't work with my version of the game and local release was a bit butchered down.

Now if we come to that conclusion I clearly see the difference between this version of the game and my CD copy namely the enemies. You can talk I'm the full of shit but I know my vanilla experience before it got tainted by any further changes. Plus I can now play Nerve and ROE for the first time, I don't mind BFG changes for the sake of completion but I won't touch Steam tainted one as this would affect my purist experience. With BFG Edition I already expect the differences as they are listed on Doomwiki.

I like the BFG version.

Anyway I hope we see in the foreseable future Wolfenstein (2009) and Prey (2006) next on GOG.

So its more of a regional difference then and the original Polish version had fewer enemies? Interesting... I didn't know that.

Nice.
Can we have Doom (2016) also, Beth?
That would be great!

Sure... probably in 2028.
This promo was too short . :(
Not that there were less enemies, some of these from expansion were missing, also it missed late changes from ROE and Steam also gameplay balance related. Basically it's untouched vanilla.

That intermission screen is present in wad file although unused by the Doom Classic engine inside Doom3BFG executable, couple of sourceports however will enable it as normal titlepic and intermission. It's the same as from xbox360. See here: https://doomwiki.org/w/images/7/7a/Doom2XBLA4.jpg
I just Googled Doom screenshots, to compare the resolution of the first person avatars hand sprites to the resolution of hands in VR games. Accidently, I just discovered the very secret origin of BFG

Thanks for explaining, though this pretty much confirms my point about the laziness of the BFG Edition version of Doom 2 if things like the Betray map and the new intermission/menu screens are only available in a sourceport.

Fairfox: KKz, I actually looked up 'BFG'. I mean alright, sure, that's a thing.
Yup, it means Big Friendly Giant (actually, not a bad movie)
