Blizzard Entertainment and GOG.COM have teamed up to rerelease select classic Blizzard games, beginning with Diablo®, Blizzard’s legendary 1996 action role-playing game that introduced players to the harsh—and deeply rewarding—world of Sanctuary.

The original Diablo® is available now via digital distribution for the first time ever on GOG.COM. Players looking for the authentic Diablo experience can play the game as it was in 1996, with period-appropriate 20 FPS SVGA graphics, and the ability to matchmake through the classic version of Blizzard’s Battle.net® online-gaming service.

Blizzard and GOG.COM have collaborated on an updated version of the game, which includes out-of-the-box Windows 10 compatibility, and a host of bug fixes. Players can choose either version of the game from a launcher.
Now that's a good old game! Diablo 2 though... that one stole my life back in the day.
wow

overread: Just a note for some - even the old Battlechest by blizzard didn't have the expansion pack for Diablo 1 - I think its stuck in one of those legal-hells where its rights are hard to get/impossible. Heck it might even be that the original gold code is lost or something.
Right, it was done by a third party (with or without Blizzard's permission... Can't remember). So Blizzard can't release rhe rights to it unilaterally.
Thank you GOG, nice surpise to login to. Can't wait to try it again.

Now I just gotta dig through all the stored stuff to see if I can find that Hellfire CD lol.

jakandratchet: Wow, this blew me away. I never expected to see anything from blizzard here.

gamesfreak64: same here .... Blizz is one of the many that love DRM , although it looks like EA is the largest DRM hugger :D
and Bigfishgames is the number one DRM huggers for casualgames ( wrappers, install client and maybe more)
The online only requirement for diablo 3 is the reason I've never played it.
I've never played Diablo. Guess now is my chance.
Wonderful news. I did not expect this to happen while the Battle.net launcher was a thing.

Warcraft 1 and 2 are coming as well, confirmed by Blizzard in the FAQ found here:

What!? I can't believe this actually came true. Diablo on GOG? Freakin' awesome!
Just, just wow. I thought this game would never hit these shores. I am simply amazed. GG GOG!
Wow, that was quite a surprise.

Now it would be great to have some viking rock n' roll! Bring us The Lost Vikings and Norse by Norsewest!
Big win for all gamers around the world. Thank you GOG
Thank you for this!!!
Speechless, completely unexpected.

I've never thought that this could be possible, good job GoG!

I had the game + expansion but this is still a Insta-bought.
Didn't expect to see this in my inbox this morning! Couldn't believe it - what a coup!
