Blizzard Entertainment and GOG.COM have teamed up to rerelease select classic Blizzard games, beginning with Diablo®, Blizzard’s legendary 1996 action role-playing game that introduced players to the harsh—and deeply rewarding—world of Sanctuary.

The original Diablo® is available now via digital distribution for the first time ever on GOG.COM. Players looking for the authentic Diablo experience can play the game as it was in 1996, with period-appropriate 20 FPS SVGA graphics, and the ability to matchmake through the classic version of Blizzard’s Battle.net® online-gaming service.

Blizzard and GOG.COM have collaborated on an updated version of the game, which includes out-of-the-box Windows 10 compatibility, and a host of bug fixes. Players can choose either version of the game from a launcher.

Meh, Blizzard, such an overrated studio...

But I guess the first Diablo is nice to have on GOG.

But hasn't it been given away already?

Matruchus: Vow, its all I can say right now!!!!!!!

Thanks gog and especially Blizzard!!!!!!!

Warcraft 1+2 and Starcraft 1 next please.
W1 and W2 are next:
Q: Are other classic Blizzard games coming to GOG.COM?
A: Yes! We have announced that we’re partnering with GOG.COM to release Warcraft: Orcs and Humans and Warcraft II. We’ll reveal more information at a later date.

Kunovski: well, it's still subjective - I myself play the first Diablo from time to time ever since is was released... and while I played the heck out of Diablo II, I still like D1 better... D1=10/10, D2=9/10 :)

BleepBl00p: Actually it is objective, movement in D2 is a lot more fluid and accurate. D2 has more classes, more skills, more loot/items, more monsters, more bosses, more environments of higher detail, more NPCs, more character customization, more secrets, more quests, etc...
that's true, but some people prefer atmosphere to perfect technical presentation... :) so have faith that the people reviewing it here with 5 stars actually do like D1 better ;) or maybe they love both games equally, that can happen as well
Thank you GOG and thank you Blizzard!
Wow, Blizzard digitally released Diablo 1 and are actually planning on digitally releasing Warcraft 1+2? I should be on the lookout for flying elephants.
Where's Hellfire?

synfresh: Looks like anything that isn't sold on Battle.net is fair game for GoG. Unfortunately that means no to Diablo 2 and probably Starcraft since Blizzard is selling the remastered version already. Also wouldn't bet on Warcraft III since the remastered version is coming as well. So that leaves...

Warcraft 1
Warcraft 2
Lost Vikings
Blackthorne
Lost Vikings 2
Blackthorne and Lost Vikings 1 and a lite version of Rock&Roll Racing (most of the original music is gone) are already freely available from Blizzard and Warcraft I and II have been confirmed to come to GOG. So really only Lost Vikings 2 is left.

Reglisse: Thank you a lot ^^
Diablo 2 next?
Or Warcraft:Orcs & Humans.
avatar
Nergal01: GOG's Twitter page already confirmed that Warcraft: Orcs & Humans and Warcraft II are in the works. No idea when, or whether Warcraft 2 will include Beyond the Dark Portal, but it's something to look forward to. :)
Well, I for one am ready to spend money getting those at full price the second they drop.
WHAT THE F**K!?!
Am I dreaming?

Great day for GOG and retro gamers.
It shows that everything is possible and it's only a matter of time for all legends to come here ;)

Usually I try to support such releases at day one. This time it's a bit pricey and I have to wait a while. But will buy it for sure. Wishlisted for now.

Thanks, GOG! Can't wait for the next classics to be released here!

DRM free Diablo? WTF? Finally some good old game is added, it's been awhile. Now if only they would release Grimoire : Heralds of the Winged Exemplar they would have redeemed themselves a bit.
Only thing missing is Diablo Hellfire. Yes, Im aware of its status, but still would like ability to play it.
HOLY MOLY

why do I always sleep in on days when the amazing stuff happens?!

obviously, unbelievable work GOG and Blizzard

I am kind of surprised there are no goodies; did Diablo 1 not really come with any? Manual? (guess I'll have to read the comments to find out, perhaps)

chandra: Honestly, I'm so happy we finally get to share this awesome news with you guys :)
Unbelievable (in a good way obviously). ;) Headline: "Profits rise a gorillian percent".

The page mentions "Warcraft: Orcs and Humans and Warcraft II" are coming.I kinda want the freeware Blizzard games to show up too, if possible.
