Blizzard Entertainment and GOG.COM have teamed up to rerelease select classic Blizzard games, beginning with Diablo®, Blizzard’s legendary 1996 action role-playing game that introduced players to the harsh—and deeply rewarding—world of Sanctuary.

The original Diablo® is available now via digital distribution for the first time ever on GOG.COM. Players looking for the authentic Diablo experience can play the game as it was in 1996, with period-appropriate 20 FPS SVGA graphics, and the ability to matchmake through the classic version of Blizzard’s Battle.net® online-gaming service.

Blizzard and GOG.COM have collaborated on an updated version of the game, which includes out-of-the-box Windows 10 compatibility, and a host of bug fixes. Players can choose either version of the game from a launcher.

liquidsnakehpks: Please look into adding hellfire expansion , its a excellent addition only problem was it broke the multiplayer with battlenet

Crosmando: Hellfire was only ever a quasi-official expansion, in fact I do believe Blizz said it was non-canon.
It still had such a impact that the some of the improvements that hellfire brought in were carried over to diablo 2
I for one am glad it does not contain Hellfire. Only if we got an option to pick vanilla or the expansion on startup.

THANK YOU!! I never thought this would be possible but I couldn't have been happier to see this available first thing this morning. This will bring me back to my childhood!

If other Blizzard originals like Starcraft and Warcraft pop up next I might just die of happiness!

Also, please get Dark Colony on GOG! Another great classic game that would certainly bring a smile to the faces of many of your customers. Myself included!

Well done, GOG! :)

"Amen to that!" (◑‿◐)

I bet the staff member that marks the wishlist entry as "completed" must be very proud.

gandalfnho: Nice, very nice surprise. I still have my CD-ROM, but always wanted a digital backup. What about Warcraft 1 and 2 (and expansion) in the future, considering both titles aren't available digitally yet?
They are semi-confirmed to be released here next.
Holy... er I mean damn... ugh! Speechless!
Holy crap! I'll buy Hellfire, if you guys sell that too, as long as you keep them separate.
I have a legit Starcraft broodwars retail DVD, stored between cushions, but I'd buy a digital copy for preservation purposes, provided it has a fair price AND LAN support.
