neskromanser: When I started reading the replies to this thread I thought all of you mad people were irrational, but now that I've read three pages of replies your remarks make complete sense.

A game about a current event churned out in the shortest time possible to still be relevant when it comes out, we've seen that many times before, and it has always been bad. But this is even worse considering the current event is a pandemic in which a huge number of people have got sick and suffered, even died, and whole countries are in collapse.

I think if the devs actually wanted to make a good game they'd spend more time on it and release it when it's appropriate, surely people could appreciate it then if it's good; people do appreciate Plague Inc. after all, and it has a big player base, they could profit if they made a COVID19 mod, but they have enough sense to know it's inappropriate, to say the least.

Anyway, I feel kinda bad for judging you guys (even though I wasn't posting it), and I'm glad I read your posts and formed a better opinion on the situation.
For all intents and purposes this might be a perfectly decent game that was in production long before the pandemic hit. In that case the name was slapped on solely for publicity, which is...a pretty shitty thing to do.

Or it might be a cheap cash grab slapped together in a couple of weeks for maximum revenue...which would be worse.

TheMonkofDestiny: Except we're not playing the comparison game. ;)
I know, I was just saying we should be thankful that most are more civil here.

TheMonkofDestiny: Since we're posting on a thread here, there's room to be reasonably upset and then there's crass and overexaggerated.
Agreed

I for one will be eagerly awaiting the release of Hatred on GOG to follow along with the next mass shooting.

Curation "curates" interesting games in wishlist demand, while they bring in filth.

SOMEBODY FROM GOG JUST FIRE THEM, ALREADY!

kasasensei: Stop faking outrages people. It's annoying to read you cry over your keyboard for nothing.
This comes off as: "Being outraged at anything 'minor' is faking outrage" tbh

People here are genuinely upset....no one seems to be faking anything.

I am guessing the team curating is mostly or fully made up of those who were the type to get upset at gog's social media stunts years back....and that they cannot fire them easily.

I don't usually post in these initial release forums but in this case I need to... As having been someone who has had friends get this horrible disease And having one of them die... I can say that this is the worse type and time for this kinda game to be released... and trying to sugar coat it and say that SOME of the proceeds will be donated to help fight it is a crock... I absolutely LOVE GOG and will for many years but THIS game NEEDS to be PULLED from the store NOW!!... This game is a slap in the faces to all who have caught and or died from this disease.... I have spoken

We badly need somebody to curate us of the curation niches. They 're too niche, lately.-

Captain Obvious says that this thread is at high risk of spiraling. Therefore, I'm posting a reminder before that happens.

The forum rules are still in effect. Please abide by them.

There is no rule forbidding people from expressing dislike for a game or curation's choices. Just don't break the other rules while you do it, please.

No thanks! I am already playing this game for free right now in Ultra High Definition.
I already have Social Distancing DLC and Toilet Paper DLC.

Aside from the issues raised in this thread, to anyone feeling compelled to go onto the store page and downrate the game: Please DON'T unless you actually bought it, played it and came to the conclusion that it is a genuinely bad game.

Objecting to the name or timing of release should not constitute enough reason to downrate if the game behind it is sound.

Holy schmoly! Color me very disappointed in GOG.

Come on, blue team. The studio behind this game with that sensationalistic title was founded by former CDPR folks. You know, people you know, and which some of you are probably friends with. Friends can be honest with each other. Did nobody try to talk Jujubee and GOG's higher-ups out of this bad idea? Whatever led to this release here on GOG, i guess you will have to bear the backlash now. As the saying goes: You reap what you sow...

I really think game rating should be locked to people who own a product here, public reviews are too open to abuse.

Fair enough, and will do my best to stick to the rules.

That said, can you see how hypocritical of GOG this is? They sell this then say "you can't talk about that event here, but we can make money from it".
