Return to the Arcade.

The wait is finally over: 15 -count 'em- 15 essential SNK NEO・GEO classics that no gamer should be without, are finally available DRM-free on GOG.com!

These are the games that devoured our entire allowance when we were skipping school to beat them at the Arcade. For convenience's sake, we've broken them down into three bundles:

METAL SLUG Bundle: Easily the most insatiable coin-eaters of the bunch, METAL SLUG 1, 2, 3, and X are still just as fun as you remember them from these blessed times. They all come sporting GOG Galaxy support complete with leaderboards, and -with the exception of METAL SLUG 2- both local and online multiplayer functionalities.

Fighting Classics Bundle: These games' legacy is made up of fierce combos, brutal takedowns, and lots of broken controllers: FATAL FURY SPECIAL, SAMURAI SHODOWN 2, SAMURAI SHODOWN V, THE LAST BLADE, THE KING OF FIGHTERS 2000, and THE KING OF FIGHTERS 2002 CLASSIC. Are you up for a rematch? We thought so!

Arcade Games Bundle: The collection would not be complete without these lesser known but equally addictive hidden gems: BLAZING STAR, BASEBALL STARS 2, KING OF THE MONSTERS, SHOCK TROOPERS, and TWINKLE STAR SPRITES.

Get each game individually for -50% or together with its bundle for 75%.
These discounts will last until June 6, 1PM UTC.

NOTE: Make sure to check each game's individual store page for details on their GOG Galaxy supported features.

Dogmaus: Do you get a legal ROM file that you can play in your MAME of choice?

DotEmu, Win only, I'll pass. I got the MS games on Android back in the day, and they were meh ports. I do like that it's basically a ROM though, so we basically all have a myriad of source ports in emulation.

pimpmonkey2382.313: Yes and yes.
Thank you that was not made clear at all!
I am perplexed at this kind of operation but maybe it's a good way to go if you get a ROM file and they keep the games super-cheap.
I don't like console ports but emulation of course, I like.
My nostalgia level for King of the Monsters is really high. So high that if you asked me I would have said it had been released in the 80s. Anyway, I can recommend that to a younger audience that might not know about it. Just watch some youtube gameplay if you have never heard of this. It's great in 1 vs 1 multiplayers against your friends. It was the coolest thing in the arcades back then.

These SNK games have already been DRM-Free in a Humble Bundle so check your Humble accounts, you might already have them. ;)

Due to the lack of 32 bit Windows support I suggest dumping the ROMS into Winkawaks. Trying to run the Windows versions on 32 bit OSes results in the games running too fast to even be playable.

[Corrected from earlier post]
Linux versions at Humble Store, on the other hand, offer 32 bit or 64 bit installation.

The Metal slug bundle looks wild! Love that these are the exact titles I used to jam at the arcade with, when I was a whole lot younger. You know, talking about it's fighting bundle compadre, I do happen to own the ripped roms (with jukebox included), of King Of Fighters "94 -98, 99, 2000, 2001 & 2002". Will GOG think to sell more iterations of the series (including a few future ones)?

Highly doubtful as these emulations have been around for a while.

Metal Slug 3. It has tons of alternate routes and secret passages sprinkled though out the stages. Metal Slug 2 and Metal Slug X are essentially the same game. X was a bit of an upgrade, but 2 is still worth owning for its slight variations in the stages.

Lucumo: So are those ports by DotEmu that bad? And if so, are they all like that?
You're better off copying the game data files and using an emulator.
I bought the 25th Anniversary pack from Humble Bundle last year, but I´m very very surprised to see SNK supporting GoG.com. I hope that more SNK games come to this shop as soon as possible.

Congrats to GoG staff and SNK to this shocking but wonderful news!
