PaterAlf: Does the USA and the rest of the world get the fair price package in that cases or is the US price still considered as base price?
Its still base price which means that probably east europe is going to take a hit on this one.

That's a pretty hefty discount actually, so let's first see if the standard price is not an error. With it 24.99 instead of 34.99, it'd match what you're saying here about Steam and result in pretty standard EU regional pricing.

The US price is still considered the base one.

HypersomniacLive: Interesting. Have these always been cheaper? From the beginning?
Some of them, yes. Others were just a case of the weakening €.

It isn't. The game costs $35 and €25 on Steam, respectively.

Sure is a weird one then, and would be biggest EU discount here so far.

Train Fever: 20%
Shadow Warrior (2013): 16%
Halfway: 13.86%
Grim Fandango Remastered: 11.34%
Mount & Blade: 11.01%
Mount & Blade: Warband - Napoleonic Wars: 11.01%
Mount & Blade: With Fire & Sword: 11.01%
Gone Home (UK only): 7.5%
Double Dragon Trilogy: 6.68%
Guacamelee! Gold Edition: 3.34%
Mount & Blade: Warband: 6%
World of Goo: 1%

(Taking lowest EU price if multiple.)

Most of them a a result of the weak Euro and were more expensive than the base price when they arrived here. I think only Train Fever, Halfway, Double Dragon and World of Goo were cheaper right from the start.

Grim Fandago Remastered too, being a recent addition. And the Mount & Blades were initially flat priced when introduced, then when they switched to regional I think they were also cheaper only right from the get go, though by less than this. And I think Shadow Warrior was also cheaper right from the start? Gone Home too when it became regionally priced, as that has nothing to do with the Euro, only having UK and RU. Which just leaves Guacamelee! Gold Edition.
Most, if not all, of these were very close to flat price at the start though, and then slid, so I'm guessing the publishers actually wanted a more or less flat price but also separate regions for some reason, maybe "just in case" they'll get other ideas later, so had to do it manually (and stick to the rounding to x.x9) since GOG only adjusts for the actual flat priced ones. And then they didn't update again as currencies changed.
those russian prices are complete joke

It just shows how high the markup on games is if they can give them such high discount.

Well, technically the markup is nearly the entire price, since the costs of an individual digital download are tiny. The price is set according to the desired revenue and expected number of copies sold. In theory, at least.

... hardly

If they sold all their games (everywhere) for that low cost a lot of games would never make their money back. It's only possible to offer it that low in some countries *because* it's being sold for more elsewhere. Most likely these low cost countries aren't even factored in to their projections for recouping the cost of building the game, it's an extra market on top of that. Somewhere they can get more profit, but not something you rely on for funding.

Getting a low percentage is still better than getting nothing.
nvm

EDIT: Train Fever moved to Regional Discounted thread

IAmSinistar: Thanks! Added:

Train Fever
I think this should go into the Regional Discounted games, as none of the other territories have a higher price than the base US one.

You're right. The differences look like more than just the dollar vs. euro situation. Will move it.
