tinyE: EVERYTHING and I mean EVERYTHING is subjective.

Well, except the 4th Indiana Jones movie.
That sucked.
Fuck you, I liked that piece of shit!

Disclaimer: I am kidding about everything I said in this post. Except the fact that movie is a piece of shit.

To be fair, all Indiana Jones movies are shit. It just took some time for the world to notice. ;-)

And my subjective opinion is objective to me, I think.

Cadaver747: Thank goodness most movies, music, books are not.

EDIT: This statement is false, it was made for the goal of self entertaining (a gesture of jest).
Ok, so you are saying that basically, most movies, music, and books, ARE poor.

Well, for one thing, there's a lot more bad videogames than bad books. And the bad books are recent, for the bad ones written in the past, have been now forgotten.

As for music, I disagree. I am a pro musician, by the way. There's reasons if a song is famous. This is not to say that ALL music is good, but it's very hard to find 'bad' music that is famous. Bad music simply gets ignored. But if you are saying that 'rock music is bad', then there's a big problem there. It just means you don't like it, not that is bad.

I don't know much about movies. As I said, they are entertainment, and like most entertainment, is mostly worthless. Having said that, I do occasionally watch a fun movie, for example I liked Trollhunters a lot. But I know it's entertainment, nothing more or less. Sometimes the movie supposedly tells the story of an even, or a person. In that case I always read a good biography, for I know the movie is not a biography, but a piece of entertainment that changed the true story and made it more fantasy like, for the purpose of entertainment. A good biography doesn't do that, instead it just tells the truth, and all of it.

What I am saying is simply this: that is far easier to find trash when one looks into entertainment, which is what videogames and movies are. And that's there's huge quantity, but little quality. Again, one just needs to read good NEGATIVE reviews, there's always some of those, somewhere. :) and thanks god for them, because it's through them that I can really see past my nose when it comes to a game I am thinking to get.

That's all I am saying, really.

But... but... the first one was really good and funny. And young Harrison Ford is so subjectively handsome. Well, I object to your subjective thinking ;)

WTF does "pro musician" mean? :P
Are there anti musicians?

Are there protesters walking around carrying signs that say, "END MUSIC NOW!"

I'm not making fun of the OP, I just think he could have phrased that better.

BTW, of course I am not dismissing entertaining movies as worthless, i.e. if we are talking about Laurel and Hardy, that's very different.
Do my eyes deceive me, or Gangam style actually has more than 3 billion views?

OK, I'm currently reading Death Gate series. Nice books, nothing special, not bad, definitely not art. And the most books I read in my life are just not bad. You've mentioned some really nice authors, which I personally admire, and I admire their work. That it is my subjective opinion.
You mentioned that there are more bad games than bad books. I don't know what to say, I can't even imagine how to count all the games and books and decide the percentage of good. It's not the point, all I'm interested in is how a human with subjective thinking can decide what is "objectively" good.

I can't take much more of this.
There is no good and bad, especially in art.

I think the LOTR movies are shit and System Shock is shit but those are mega hits.
I think Star Wars Ep VII was good, I loved The Human Centipede.
I love HuniePop, most people think it's useless smut.
I think Seasons in the Abyss was a better record than Reign in Blood, something I've almost gotten my ass kicked for.

Every man's treasure is a another man's trash.

YOU CAN NOT OBJECTIFY THESE THINGS, PERIOD.
