tomimt: This is acutally pretty interesting: some one is making a Windows XP/2003 clone, that aims to be Windows software compatible. It seems to be in alpha stage and not recommended for daily use.

I wonder how long it takes for MS to shut this down.

gyokzoli: And since it's only XP compatible this project is already dead.
Why? This statement makes no sense.

Honestly I enjoyed using XP for several years, up until I needed to have more than 4Gigs of ram and had to get a 64bit OS. There's still so many useful applications you can use for a 32bit system, as for being XP specific I don't see a problem.

For a workable OS you need a filesystem, a graphical UI or windowing system, memory management, and driver support... the programs will come on their own, and being compatible programs are already there.

Honestly I've gotten increasingly annoyed at how bloated each iterative OS that MS puts out requiring gigs of space. XP on the other hand when you used a tool to force installation of unneeded files and tools, took up a mere 216Megs (if memory serves me right), I think it was called XPLite, and I've used it quite successfully on a couple projects.

The upcoming version 0.4.3 of ReactOS will support GOG Galaxy

its also still in unfinished alpha stage

why react OS will support gog galaxy is a bit of a mystery to me

Probably to test compatibility with old games? It's XP equivalent so perhaps it's best to test with games that was made for XP.

They probably thinking we all use gog galaxy to play

I'm suddenly reminded, did anyone take note of Lindows? and the can of worms with Microsoft over it, a free windows alternative that ran windows programs near perfectly?

Hmmm... Seems it's now called LinspireOS.

microsoft most likely had a shitfit over the name its too close to windows

and considering its unix like unlike react os thats all microsoft cared about

react os is supposed to be a xp clone ( and and nt clone before that thats how slow going it is )

If I remember right Lindows was intended to run both Unix/Linux and Windows applications seamlessly. At first they said it couldn't be sold, but then they got even more annoying when Lindows was being offered for free.

Seems Microsoft bought the Lindows name ($20Mil) to shut it all up, and the project got renamed to Linspire afterwards. So I don't know... wish I could easily find those old articles about it...

well regardless both linspire and react os seem to be making all the progress of a geriatric slug in maple syrup in the dead of winter

JudasIscariot: This is a lawsuit just waiting to happen since MS is very protective of its code.
Wait....Judas wasn't always a blue?
What in the heck?

Based on your wiki link everything got sold to Xandros by 2008 which itself had an OS discontinued since 2006/7; an homepage which stopped getting any updated since 2009 and ceased to exist around 2013.

...totally not fishy.

There are bad mouthing rumors saying he was mortal once. Truth is: He traveled back in time and tinted some posts black to appear normal on occasion.

He was a forumite before he was ever a GOG employee.

There are at least 3 GOG employees that started as GOG users. Judas is one of them.
