snowkatt: microsoft most likely had a shitfit over the name its too close to windows

react os is supposed to be a xp clone ( and and nt clone before that thats how slow going it is )
rtcvb32: If I remember right Lindows was intended to run both Unix/Linux and Windows applications seamlessly. At first they said it couldn't be sold, but then they got even more annoying when Lindows was being offered for free.
Seems Microsoft bought the Lindows name (
$20Mil) to shut it all up, and the project got renamed to Linspire afterwards. So I don't know... wish I could easily find those old articles about it...
Lindows was a Linux distribution with Wine. Perhaps Wine was slightly more integrated with the rest of the system than was usual at the time, but it really wasn't overly fancy. The problem was in the name.
