Crime is low in rural Norway. I tend to leave my car unlocked, and nothing funky ever happens. Buuut my LED bar got stolen recently. Brutally twisted out from its mounts and wires cut. And a old man once pulled the handbrake while the car was parked outside my house and let it roll out into the street. He was visiting my neighbor and wanted to park where I parked.

The four wheel drive has indeed been very handy in the harsh climate here. I've driven home on unplowed roads with snow up to the headlights, and the Subaru just chewed its way through. In a previous job I was regularly driving through mountain passes throughout the country. My commute is more predictable now, but I still drive about 20k a year and run into snow and ice heavy stretches of road. I have been to Switzerland, and I saw that Subarus are popular over there, maybe because of the mountains.

I did some research before buying that car, and the problems with the crankshaft was solved in Euro 5 (mid 2010 and onwards). I had zero mechanical issues with it for 60k kilometers, until I let a friend borrow it.. Then I got it back with less than half a transmission and a constant Cessna sound while driving. After finally paying a mechanic for changing out the gearbox this week, it is whole again. Gained some valuable experience about renting out my stuff from that whole ordeal ;) But I'm glad it was not the engine that exploded at least.

The injectors is still something I am unsure about though. Some of these engines can indeed have problems with that. I am not that worried about the particle filter, as I always drive at least 100+ km whenever I start it up. Generally though, the Subaru diesel is experimental. They eventually figured it out, but the early ones have its quirks. I've owned a Forester S-Turbo before, and those engines really are incredible for the reliability. It was automatic too, even! But the fuel efficiency was miserable. I could never have something like this again with the kilometers I'm driving now.

I did notice how fun the Yaris is! I was surprised, but it has much better driving properties than you'd think from looking at it. And it is genuinely well built. I haven't tested it in winter yet (still "warm" here), but it can probably do okay with studded tires. Definitely no match for four wheel drive though. Both cars use between 5,2-5,5 liters of fuel per 100km, which is very good.

I don't need to sell one right now, but I think I'll wait for a while and consider it. Always good to have one in reserve too. I'm already being asked by people if they can borrow a car now that I have two, but bad experience tells me to say no..

Holy crap, I laughed out loud imagine the scene. The crazy part of me (the dominant one) imagine a stoic old man, Clint Eastwood type, telling your neighbour while he unlocks the brakes and let the car drop into a river: "these kids nowadays don't even repect older people, I'll show him!".

Hahah, that's probably how it went down. There are no rivers close there fortunately, but the car can go off a cliff if you're not careful in that area :) I discovered my car was in the middle of the road when a bunch of cars were queued up in the street and couldn't pass it. When I ran out to park it, I went over to the neighbor and asked his friend why he thought creating chaos in traffic like this was a good idea. He said.. "I had no choice".

Is flavored yoghurt healthy?

I'd think it has lots of sugar and unnatural additives to it. I personally eat plain nonfat yoghurt with nuts every evening, along with an avocado and rye bread with hummus and a slice of cheese (edam). I gather that should be pretty healthy, even if I could still drop the cheese away but it tastes soooo goooooood.

As for my Pop Tart adventure, there was a setback when I realized our supermarkets don't carry them on the store like I thought they would, but I'd have to order them online. I just never got into that, ordering them online.

Moreover, I'm now in my "trying to avoid all unhealthy food" mode, even declined to eat a yummy McDonalds Double Quarter Pounder meal with a large chocolate milkshake yesterday even though I had the opportunity. I've also told my wife that she shouldn't bring any buns and pastrys to me from her work because I will not eat them and they go to trashbin if no one else eats them either. I've even cut my consumption of meat quite a bit.

Sooo... I guess I am avoiding Pop Tarts as well, but I guess trying a few out of curiosity wouldn't hurt.

Also, as I mentioned somewhere, somehow I've lost my sweet tooth over time, ie. I am not really craving for sweets that much anymore, not even chocolate, which I guess is a plus. As a kid and also young adult, I used to eat sweets many times a week and just couldn't get enough of them. It is a miracle I didn't get fat and lose my teeth.

I just saw the new trailer for the next Pixar film and... am I just so ill disposed to Pixar these days, or does it really look kind of bad? I mean just the visuals. The characters look just kind of ugly and flat, I don't feel liek there's any coherent art style to it, it's just an overload of colors and what I can only describe as "stuff".

Having just watched said trailer for the very first time, I would agree with your assessment. Also, the style of art did not strike me as being unique. However, I must admit that I have a strong bias against Pixar (and 'Western' animation, in general). Their humanoid characters tend to possess 'soulless eyes', completely devoid of seemingly-authentic emotion.

[Spoiler Warning]
WALL-E (2008) had been the sole Pixar-produced film that I had enjoyed... or, at least until the 00:39:30 mark (at this point, all amusement had evaporated, as certain forms of life were introduced). It had been quite disappointing that the film did not proceed as a robot-only adventure.

I love western animation, though I much prefer hand drawn to CG. Still, there are some CG animated films I think are absolutely fantastic: Wall-E (I agree it's Pixar's only truly great film, even if the first act is the strongest), first How to Train Your Dragon, the recent Puss in Boots 2. But this just looks... baaad.

I have to admit I haven't seen nearly all of Pixar's films (most notably Inside Out), and some have been ok, but so many were just blad and boring, I kind of lost interest. Though I have to admit, something like Brave at least had some visual style, and looked good in trailers.

Diesel should help you in the long run with gasoline costs. Imo sell this one

After the weather we had today.. I will have to agree on keeping the Subaru. I forgot how much of a monster this is in winter. I've crossed a mountain pass three times in the last few days, so I guess there is genuine use case for the AWD still.

Do any of you guys do this? During a big sale, you often end up buying games that are not in your wishlist even though they're discounted. It's like my focus suddenly gets directed everywhere in the store except my wishlist lol. As a result, my wishlist stays the same, if anything the number does get reduced but not because I purchased any games from it, but because I removed them from my wishlist after realizing I didn't really want them. Sometimes, I would even add games to my wishlist during a sale and buy them instantly moments after. So again, the number of games in the wishlist once again stays the same.

Is GOG making you now log in EVERYTIME you try to access this platform, even if the most recent access was within the last 24 hours? WTF??

I think this might just be something that some people experience since I still haven't been logged out from the platform no matter how long I leave it logged in.
