Gollum wouldn't sink into it, he would just combust on the surface.
Good point!
I'm also quite sure, he would start to burn even before he actually hits the lava.
And once he hits (or "submerges") the surface, wouldn't he "explode", due to his body fluids being instantly vaporized by the extreme heat (lava: ~500°C / 932°F to ~1200°C / 2192°F -/- magma: ~900°C / 1652°F to ~1500°C / 2732°F)?

Btw: is it lava in Mt. Doom?
Or is it, technically speaking, still magma, since it's still "underground" and the vulcan hasn't erupted, yet?

Hmm. I've never pondered the line between magma and lava, but seemingly it's as simple as this:

When magma reaches the surface and erupts from a volcano, it officially becomes lava.
So if it's still in the "throat" of the volcano and hasn't been spat out yet, it's still technically magma. Since the tunnel and platform the Hobbits and Gollum were on are inside the throat of the volcano, it's magma. The moment the molten rock leaves the mountain it's lava.

EDIT: I can't help but Dr Evil that word. Liquid hot MAG-MA!!!

Warloch_Ahead: 1. You ever find a really good song you like and then listen to the album, only for that one song to be the only good one? A real bummer if there ever was one.
Yeah used to be a thing back when I bought CD albums.

For instance, Pink Floyd's Animals has only one good song, "Sheep". I find all the other songs in the album rather meh.

But that is ok as "Sheep" is the best Pink Floyd song I've ever heard. Maybe the best song in the universe, period.

ifearyeti: In the Lord of the Rings movies, at the end, gollum falls into the lava and sinks out of sight so we can see the one ring for a few moments before it is destroyed forever.

But, lava is essentially liquid rock and very dense. Gollum wouldn't sink into it, he would just combust on the surface.
That's actually interesting! It is nice when people pick up such "waiddaminute...?" things from movies that people hardly think about or notice.

Like that one movie a long time ago, I don't even remember what movie it was, but there was a scene where a woman prisoner had her arms chained, in some kind of jungle prison or whatever.

My friends were confused when I suddenly burst out laughing. I told them "Look at her hands.".

The "handcuffs" at the end of the chains were so big that she could have easily slipped her hands out of them. My friends started laughing too. Ok whatever, moving on, it was some B-class action movie anyway IIRC.

Warloch_Ahead: Off-Topic: Blueberry Pop Tarts suck. They taste like the worst kind of sugar paste and they're that bland kind of bitter-sour. And I like blueberries.
Thanks for the suggestions. I am going to order them online (because brick&mortar grocery stores don't sell them for some reason, but sell it on their online stores, go figure...), and I picked blueberry flavor because I do like blueberries (my daily breakfast is usually hot oat meal (prepared in the microwave oven to save some time) where I afterwards put some frozen blueberries and milk, and eat with an apple and a banana, good start for the day + a cup of coffee after the breakfast).

I was hoping the blueberry version wouldn't be so overly sweet or something, but if it just some sugary fake blueberry-like substance, maybe I'll skip it. Maybe the fruity one then you mentioned, do they have a mango version? I love mango. (Then again maybe I should just eat real mango instead...).

timppu: Should I get any drinks with it,
I'm surprised no one has mentioned this yet, but the proper drink to go along with Pop-tarts is definitely Capri Sun (and not in a bottle - you've got to get the kind in the little foil pouches for the full experience).

Nowadays they do have some small amount of actual fruit juice in them, but when I was growing up back in the 80s I'm pretty sure they were just fruit-flavored sugar water.

Mount Doom had magic lava otherwise any volcano would've been fine. Remember Joe? He had a magic volcano as well.

I had to google what that is, and some brand of juice then. Not sure if sold in grocery stores here, but at least online it seems to be available here.

I'm not sure I want juice with it, if the snack is overly sweet already, and then sweeten it even more with juice. I was thinking something less sweet, to even it out. Coffee (with milk and without sugar) or that cheap Coop beer might work. I have rest of my life to test different combinations.
Sniff sniff....... can I smell Richard Dawkins?

I mean, you know, try 'em if you're that curious but don't say I didn't warn you. As for mango flavor, there is Tropical Mango, but I've never had it and it's apparently hard to find if they even sell them anymore. I don't actually eat Pop Tarts all that much, and since they're so dang expensive these days I've never really had any incentive to try out new flavors, unlike Mountain Dew.

I tried this "blood orange and mango infused" Aqua Libre mineral water recently. It tasted like wallaby's p155.
And this other "extra hydration water" cr@p, said it was "Ice Pop" flavour (huh?). It tasted like a Bondi cigar!
Trying a piece of software I said i'd never ever ever ever ever ever ever try. I have mixed feelings and a bad headache but a good feeling as wel. I am very conflicted and don't know which way to go next.
I was minding my own business, driving home from a burger joint to get my kids something to eat because we were too lazy to prepare some real food for them (it was Sunday, after all).

On the radio they were playing some song by Bruce Dickinson, so I started pondering:

"Bruce Dickinson... that was a member of some famous rock band right? I didn't realize he made solo albums as well."

"Dickinson... I wonder if he has Nordic roots, in Sweden maybe?"

"Now waiddaminute...! Is that even his real name, or some sick pedophile joke?!? Dick-in-son?!?".

I was truly appalled, almost as much as when I learned about the actor Michael "fAssBender"... Really? Grow up man, that is just sick.

Anyway, upon arriving home and and googling for it, i learned that Dickinson really is his real name. My condolences, you must have had a rough childhood at school, no wonder you became a heavy rock musician. Children can get traumatized by their names you know! Like that one Indian colleague I once had whose last name was "Dikshit".

That's odd, I was pondering buying Happy Humble Burger Farm a few moments ago.

You "bought the farm"?

I visited Hesburger, I guess they are fine and my kids like their mozzarella sticks.

Now I want a good burger to snack on. Yes I bought the farm, it's at a decent price. I then bought the tundra with a game called expedition zero and some might and magic copycat called the quest.
