Regarding the Dachshund....those pooches are quite the characters. Back when I was in high school, my good buddy's family had one named "Peanut". That dog, for whatever reason loved me. He would run over upon seeing me (with just those eyes, lol), and proceed to jump into my lap, lick my face and hug me like I was his long lost master, haha. But another friend of mine, Mike was hated by Peanut, just as much, for totally unknown reasons, lol. Upon seeing him, he would show the whites of his eyes, and start a low guttural growl, and act as if Mike were his mortal enemy. Very odd, as Mike was a real animal lover, and had a dog of his own! No matter how much he tried, or sweet -talked Peanut, that Weiner dog wasn't buying what he was selling, heh heh.
