Doom 64 is already on sale for $1.24, I mean come on, why is a GOG release so difficult lol :P (Also I never realized it was only $5, I figured given the work put in it'd be like $10)

saw OG Doom 3+RoE mentioned, definitely want that here too of course.

GamezRanker: Wasn't TR1 already remade as anniversary?
Apparently a bit of content from the original is missing in Anniversary. I was mainly thinking of Nightdive doing stuff like making System Shock 2 or Turok style improvements - compatibility so people don't have to use emulators and fiddle and whatnot, but using the same graphics.

QWEEDDYZ: Criticism? Erh... Usually most people are too much exited and dont care what really happened to game with such updates and remakes.
Well not all are like that re: remasters/remakes, but a number seem to be.
(i.e. excited just or mainly because something is new/"new")

Sort of like this clip from the Simpsons
("She's got a new hat!")

QWEEDDYZ: And usually there is a lot missing\messing content with such updates (check Fallout's Classic's here, by same Bethesda). And additionally for GOG - sometimes goodies are missing (sometimes without any reasons).
Yeah, I dislike when content gets changed/cut in new versions...thankfully that doesn't seem like it will be the case here, though.

As for goodies: sometimes GOG didn't have the rights to put up some goodies(some IP holders own the rights to the games, but not some of the goodies), so they remove them to likely avoid legal issues.

Wait, what? SS2 doesn't need an emulator/etc(and installs just fine on new OSs). :\

If you mean the time spent modding the game: if that's all that the new version will end up doing(saving modding time and making the game look as it does when modded), I don't see much point in buying it.
(As I can do all that myself. Of course, if others want to buy it then by all means)

Is it me or the requirements are insane?

Maybe I am outdated so dramatically that I am scared with them easily. Not mentioning the Quake 2 RTX ones :D

They are pretty insane. The good news is that original Quake and the expansions should still work like a charm. I suppose the requirements refer to the two more recent expansions, which have some fairly elaborate level design that makes my FPS counter drop from 60 to 20ish levels.

Also sometimes GOG(or the partner...whoever makes the requirements text) sets the requirements a bit high....i'm guessing that that's (partially) so as to not run into issues if someone can't run the game when the requirements says they should be able to.

Indeed, If one of the new expansions is the so called "dimensions of the past" probably it is one of the reasons for the requirements. It was recomended if not obligued to run it in an specific source port due to the size, effects and complexity of the chapter. It was probably designed for one of them in mind.
Please make separate offline installers for the old and new versions, and please don't overwrite my current modded install via Galaxy. I have everything setup the way I want it, and having to start over because the update screws it up would be a pain.

SmollestLight: As you may have noticed, Quake® Enhanced (updated and visually enhanced version of the original) is available on Steam since Aug 19th. We're in talks with the publisher and have their confirmation that the GOG version of the update is currently being finalised, and will be available on GOG.COM. We'll be sure to let you know when that happens.
GOG users who already own Quake will automatically receive the new enhanced version with a free download.
good day SmollestLight

could you perhaps assistme if posssible ?!

The game now uses the most recent Kex Engine and runs on Vulkan by default.

Of the two new episodes, Dimensions of the Past worked with any source port and it is a traditional level design episode, nothing too fancy, but the new Dimensions of the Machine has the complexity and level detail of modern mods.

Hmm... Im not sure how it works before updates... seems that Galaxy allow keep current version, as i remember. In case if it still update forcing game, you can revert it back. But loose mods of course.

Correct, Dimensions of the Past was recomended or obligued to be played in a source port. It was too complex for the original vanilla game without ports. I guess that's what I misunderstood.

Wel, I fear I won't be able to play this even in my wildest dreams :D

I would assume that since this also got Remastered for consoles - the minimums were built around PC hardware and console hardware of that sort, for a bare minimum.

So, namely - around modern PC hardware and PS4/X1 as minimums.

There's also new graphics bells & features here; and what the new episode is doing.

About Quake 2 RTX - of course those were going to be stiff, as you need RTX cards to run them properly. That pretty much requires RTX 2060 and above. Heck, RTX ain't the easiest things to run - so you're likely better off with RTX 30xx cards.

Steam-versions didn't remove anything, so I doubt GOG will change that.

Steam-version basically added an extra folder called "Rerelease" that adds the new version of Quake: Enhanced. The old folders were left all alone, as is.

While I'm happy to read this, I'm still gonna take this opportunity to whine;
where is DOOM 64?

Good. A separate folder added without touching my modded version would be ideal.
