Whoa, whoa! Easy mate.
Sure, I've always wondered whether the whole acronym theory was real or not. Thanks for calling it to my attenention.

But I didn't expect such a reaction. If it is because it has been discussed on the forum before, sorry, but I haven't been around here long enough to read that one. All you had to tell me is that the acronym theory was weak at best. That would have been good enough for me. :)

Ebany: Are you absolutely positive about that?

HunchBluntley: Am I absolutely sure that I'm right and you're not in this? Of course not. Reasonably sure? Absolutely. ;) Are YOU absolutely sure your belief ..

(And LOL is a word by this point -- the digression earlier was just about how it could or "should" be pronounced. I didn't take that too seriously, but I do take seriously the dissemination of misinformation. And whenever words/language (a pet interest of mine) are being discussed, I tend to take especially keen interest.)
The reason you're not positive is because no-one actually disproved it, every attempt seems to have differing information to back up their theories since few (or none) of them - I.m not saying they're wrong, nor am I saying they're correct.
I first heard about it back in the days of BBS when I was active on one which dealt with (primarily) IATA Dangerous Goods by Air, back then we exchanged a great deal on Usenet text threads. I won't go on since my original comment was meant to be humorous but I can direct you to a book if you ever wish to learn more about it.
A 1999 book by the Institute of Packing Pro's called "Shipper's guide to loading and securement of packaged hazardous materials: highway, rail, water.

As for LOL been a word ........ well I'll take your word for it since I can't keep up with the rapid changes in language. I simply get my references on this from https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/LOL

Actually, we're way off topic now so I'll leave off anymore responses.

GabiMoro: It`s Gog, a weak shooter from Heroes 3.
Gog

InkPanther: No luck editing that url? ;P
I lurked the forum for a long time, I forgot how to do it.
I gave up after 4 retries :)

idbeholdME: Definitely just "gog". It's much quicker to say.
Another reason would most likely be the conditioning from my younger years by playing HoM&M 3.
I have the game but haven't thought about this until now. It is MUCH quicker to say "homm and emm 3"/"homonym 3" versus spelling out every single letter.

Well, I read it in my language something like "Ho-mam 3". It can be said very fast. I don't spell out every single letter either.

Sorry if that was too intense; and I also apologize if I came off as brusque. I definitely wasn't intending to sound hostile.
