I'm watching the Twins/Brewers game right now and there are a lot of Twins fans holding up signs in honor of him.

apehater: prince of which country?
All the countries...!
I love his funky music. Very sad now.
That's a damn loss indeed.
I can't believe he died.

Wasn't Prince the one who changed his name to some symbol at some point?

(I can't post what he changed his name to because it isn't representable in Unicode.)

Well not really his stage name; it was also his given name.

Well, true, but he also used it as his stage name, since he was just "Prince" rather than "Prince Nelson".
For fucks sake! We're losing great artists left and right at the moment! Shit...

Rest in peace, Prince. You will be missed.
I don't even know what he has been doing in the 2000s, I didn't hear much about him after the Tim Burton Batman movie, and the "hey I'm a sign!" thing.

I always considered Prince even odder fellow than M. Jackson. He certainly had talent as a musician no doubt about that, but I also felt he was a bit too full of himself (a real diva if you will), like with that sign name thing. I also vividly remember that when the "We Are The World!" thing was made, who didn't participate... yep, Prince. Not sure why, but I figured he felt he is too big of a star to sing together with mere mortals like Michael Jackson, Tina Turner and about every other renowned US singer from the 80s.

Still, and interesting and important artist to be sure.

Not as bad as Bowie, but still bad - and younger for that matter.

His music never got me nor his lyrics... but goddamn, can he play his (legendary yellow) guitar.

Andremop: but goddamn, can he play his (legendary yellow) guitar.
I never fully realized that till I saw a recorded concert of his about 20 years ago. I was just sitting back half watching when he pulled out his axe and just went nuts on it. I had NO CLUE he was that good of a pure player.
