After years of bloody conflict, the world of Tyranny has fallen under the rule of Kyros, a powerful Overlord that is now looking for strong individuals willing to enforce his law and keep his subjects in line. Once you become a Fatebinder, you will hold the power to shape the lives of thousands with your decisions. Will you act as an unquestioning instrument of your lord's justice or will you find other ways of bringing order to this broken world? Depending on your choices, certain problems can be overcome with reason or coercion, but for those who defy you, the real-time-with-pause battles will decide the victor.

Long ago.

That's only for the regular non-commander edition, but it's good to see any way.
Update on the upgrade paths guys, quoted from this link on the official Paradox forums

This is actually something GoG would need to answer as we don't have anything to do with their sales strategy / policy. As GoG wanted to do this upgrade path thing they probably had a plan and I'm guessing something happened that put them offtrack though I can't say for sure.
It seems the choice has always been in GOG's hands and it's about time we get an official response with what's going on and not just about Tyranny, but Pillars of Eternity too.

blotunga: I don't have he extras, but I saw it "Coming Soon" on the product page so I've thought that it's not yet ready.
Yeah it's already been released. GOG just needs to update the page.

I agree we need a official response. If Steam works well with the upgrade system for these titles why not GoG ? Can't GoG also implement this kind of upgrade system for these games ?
I would love to buy this on launch to support Obsidian, but I cannot justify spending the money on Commander edition when it would not be possible to update it to Archon or Overlord later. Therefore, I will probably just wait for the sale and buy the "better" edition for the same price down the line.

The lack of edition upgrades is completely irrational to me and this seems to be a result of Paradox messing with GOG... shame.

It could be that TinyWiking's response is based on what RinElexica said about GOG games not having any upgrade paths (which is straight up false). I wouldn't put Paradox in the clear just yet. It could also be the case that it is unclear whose responsibility it is to sort out, in which case it'll be stuck in limbo 'til someone actually takes the initiative.

GOG already has an upgrade system in place for most games. I wonder why Pillars and Tyranny are the few exceptions.

Yeah, I know that but why not for these particular games? My guess it's on both sides publisher and distributor to allow this upgrade, but if one party or another can't do it, it'll remain like this; purchasing a second time for additional goodies.

I nominate this for the Joke of the Day. ; )

l0nelyknight: (20-25h of normal playthrough)
Thanks for bringing that up. I was pretty excited about this game, but if a play-through is that short for this type of game, I'm wary of buying it at full price. I'll put my money to a Persona 5 pre-order where 20 - 25 hours is probably just the intro. :P
Can't believe this one is almost here already - sort of came out of nowhere. For some reason I thought it was going to be more management / world shaping with an ISO-rpg component.

I *think* someone here mentioned once that the game is going to have radical decision making moments and the developers intended the game for multiple playthroughs with different choices / playstyles.

After the *REDACTED* hours I put into Pillars, I can't say I'd mind a shorter go the second time around ;)

I doubt I'll make the plunge right away, but I'm still super excited to see their stuff coming here - not to mention the fact that these types of games "are back."

I have to agree that most RPGs feel a bit too long to me these days, and they seem to drag on a bit at times. I'd rather have an excellent 20-hour long game than a good 50-hour long one anyway.

I felt PoE especially was a bit too long, what with how bleak and depressing the game world was. I don't mind dystopian works, but they're better in small doses imo, or they start to really get you down.

You make a good point. I'm a weirdo that liked how long Pillars was though, especially with both expansions and played it multiple times. ;)

But I really do enjoy making multiple characters in a shorter game with many paths too. I'll decide closer to release I think.
