Plumb: Oh shoot, my bad.
I should have watched the new trailer before I posted. That sounds completely different, and devoid of character.
ugh. I'm still looking for official word on WHY they did this, but it looks like it's probably the Asian representation.
idbeholdME: The reason is that because over the last couple of years or so, it has become an absolutely unacceptable travesty in mainstream media, gaming and anywhere in general for a non-white character to be voiced by a white VA. Talent or the actual quality of the VA does not matter, only checking boxes, no matter the cost.

The fact that they're calling casting the original VA a "mistake" in that article is all I need to see.
The main thing I have a problem with is that an established character with a specific voice we got used to over the past games is getting a different VA for no good reason. Not only is it going to feel weird but from what we've heard of it, it is going to be nowhere near as good as the original one.
Most of what new Lo Wang has become was in large part due to the "goofy, yet serious" voice that Jason Liebrecht nailed. There is pretty much no chance that Lo Wang in SW 3 is going to feel anything like the one in SW 1 or 2.
looks like it's okay for a demon to be voiced by a white dude. We are all demons, afterall. It's in the Asian Bible
And I'll echo others - Korea is not China, and he isn't even from the continent, lol.
