Rage against the machines

Hard Reset: Redux, a heavily upgraded edition of the cult-classic cyberpunk FPS, is now available for pre-order, DRM-free on GOG.com, with a 10% per-order discount or 85% for owners of Shadow Warrior (2013)!

Humanity is under siege. Bezoar, the last bastion of mankind, is being attacked by bloodthirsty machines seeking to download its extensive data-bank, where billions of digitized human minds are stored. It's time for a last stand. It's time for hard decisions. It's time for a Hard Reset.

The relentless gunplay, the wanton destruction, and the hardcore sensibilities that gained the original its cult fame, are back with a vengeance. Hard Reset: Redux brings a barrage of improvements, including better visuals, a new enemy type, a sweet dash move, a mean-looking cyber-katana, optimized performance, and an all-around more balanced experience. Definitely a far more enjoyable one than what our mechanical overlords would want us to have, should they were allowed to succeed...

Pre-order Hard Reset: Redux, the definitive edition of this intense techno-thriller, DRM-free on GOG.com, with a 10% discount. Owners of Shadow Warrior (2013), who want to smash some mean machines, can instead take advantage of the whopping, permanent 85% loyalist discount!
The 10% discount will last until June 10, 2:29 PM UTC.
The game launches on June 3.

Looks great! And with the permanent 85% discount for the owners of Shadow Warrior (2013) I won't even argue about regional pricing for once.

mike_cesara: Probably..
Thanks! SW2013 has Linux version. The problem of this, is because its x64 and DX11, and that is very bad combination for making it run in Wine.
Wow, 85% off? That's very generous, I can't pass on this kind of deal.
Thank you GOG!!!
Time for trade!!! :)
That deal is crazy good.

I only tried the demo of the original Hard Reset and wasn't really into it... but I absolutely loved Shadow Warrior, and it looks like they've really applied what they learned from that game here. I can't wait.
Hum… I need to think about this offer…

let’s see, buy it here at 17.99€ (19.99-10%) for the DRM free version, I don’t own SW2013
or steam at 3€ (19.99-85%) for the DRM version, I own Hard Reset Extended Edition

Oh well, I have 4 more days to think about it :/

You're still arguing about regional pricing by not trying to argue about it! If you give in because of this game (or its huge discount), I'll argue with you about your arguing about regional pricing! :)
Thank GOG, was waiting for Hard Reset to come here eventually.
And with this nice discount, it´s an instabuy.

I have played the original Extended Edition, so I might play Redux just to give it a shot as to what has been changed.
Otherwise I do not intent to play again through it.

That katana-thingy sounds like an interesting improvement, though.

Enebias: Imo, The original was very good but had a lot of space for improvement; Shadow Warrior learned a lor from that, becoming my favourite Shooter of the generation by far. Now, with an 85% I simply can't miss the enhanced version. There is just one problem: the game is very brief. Well worth 3€, mind me, but still brief.
It was, after adding the free Exile DLC the game's length is much better though.

mistermumbles: June 10. Next Friday. ... Reading is hard. =P

NuffCatnip: Yeah, I didn't see that part. :)
But you're wrong the game does release this Friday. :P

'The game launches on June 3.'
Pfft. That deserves a facepalm for myself. Doh!
Pre-ordered. Thank you for the discount! Can't wait for June 3rd to play it.

A few years ago I played Hard Reset at a friend. I thought it was pretty good. Not super great but still good. I probably would have bought it if it were available DRM-free but as far as I remember it was Steam only.

Then Shadow Warrior 2013 came along and even upped the quality of Hard Reset's gameplay plus delivering a modern take on Lo Wang. I was thrilled! Finally an old-school shooter with modern graphics that is lots of fun to play. Because, let's be honest, there haven't been many of them in the years before 2013. The yearly Call of Duty games have dead boring gameplay in single player.

Fast forward a few years and Wild Flying Hog announces an upgraded Redux version of the game which was not only for consoles but also for PC and was also announced to appear on GOG. Needless to say I was interested. Even if after the Redux treatment the game still doesn't become quite as good as Shadow Warrior 2013 it shouldn't be that far behind in quality. So I thought I'll wait for a discount and pick it up eventually.

Then the game comes along and offers not only a reasonable base price but also a huge cherry in the form of a 85% loyalty discount on top! Let's face it, there are some companies who think that 14 year old games are worth 20€ (*caugh* Yes, I'm looking at you, Bethesda. *caugh*) who would have priced the Redux version 40€ or even 50€.

If someone has at least a passing interest in old-school shooters they will have Shadow Warrior 2013 already since it has been discounted to hell and back (-90%) several times in the passing years. So basically they are offering a brand new day 1 release at a reasonable base price for newcomers for chump change (3€) to their fans. How can anyone who likes the genre think a game of that quality is not worth at least 3€?

I usually don't pre-order on principle but this time I'm sold. Since I would have gotten the game anyway sooner or later and it's hard to believe there will be any better discount than 85% in the near (or even far) future I can just as well fork over the money now.

Wild Flying Hog, you are making me break my principles! Stop doing that!

I'm kidding of course. ;-) Please keep bringing us great games DRM-free. I'm looking forward to throwing money at the screen for Shadow Warrior II.
Seems like fun, and with that 85% discount how could I say no. However though Hard Reset Redux has no linux support even though Shadow Warrior 2013 has it, hmm hmm, maybe by the time I clear my backlog (haven't even tried Shadow Warrior yet :P ) then maybe at that time this one has linux support too.
