In my opinion, leave the mods out**, it rarely ends well. Of course it would be nice to have somebody who has been given the task of eliminating forum spam***, but that would be it. Although not perfect, the community does balance itself out more or less and is generally one of the best communities around.

**Unless GOG wants to hire me, then it's a good idea.
***Speaking of which, hey GOG I'm available if you need that spot filled!

I'll work cheap!

SPAM is one thing but there are so many judgement calls to be made and I don't want some uptight asshole showing up and telling me I can't post my mouse necro pic. I remember the 1st time I ever used IRC; the Mods were 'supposed' to be rational but inevitably turds showed up who started chucking out anyone that didn't emulate Mr. Rogers or Bob Ross.

Oh it might be fine for a while but one day I'd show up and tell someone (probably a friend) that they are full of shit, and POW I'd get kicked.
Oh I understand, and to look at it from a slightly different perspective, I've been a mod on a fairly large forum before and it's not all fun. If you're too lax then people complain about you not doing your job, if you're strict then you're powertripping according to some, not to mention having to untangle fights haha.

Now that was just a fan forum for a band, I'd hate to mod for a store** since every action you take would be a reflection (in the eyes of some people anyway) of the store.

**Except for you GOG, I would love to mod your forums! You've still got my resume somewhere, come on, get on it!

Gog is the best gaming forum where a variety of topics can be had. I've been to other sites, and this place is really the best in my own opinion. For the most part people seem to moderate themselves. Sure there is some name calling, although nothing really too extreme or bullying as someone mentioned. There is far more good people here than bad from my few years here even though I don't post much (time constraints and cheap phone), I do lurk alot. There is alot of great people here and I'm very happy to have found this place ^_^

Having moderators because of users that abuse, harass or bully I don't feel is really needed. For the most part GOGers are pretty good, and usually it's all in good fun.

However having moderators to put a stop the damn spam post that we get hit with every so often wouldn't hurt, that's coming from someone with nearly 6 years of admin/mod experience. :P

I cant stand sites that have overzealous moderation. I will always prefer how gog does it. Also to be fair gog staff do intervene occasionally If things get way to out of control.
