Anothername: ...resetera

I keep hearing that groups name and always in negative context. IF what gets thrown around is correct they are responsible for doxing Linko, him/his family getting calls/threats and him loosing his livelihood.
Well, if that's true, Linko may not have been fired, but may have chosen instead to quit to get himself and his family out of the line of fire.

Not that it changes the outcome for him and his life in any way.

Right from the start, getting a community manager was a thorn in the side of a certain subset of forum users.

And those guys didn't leave out anything to try and find how far they could go under the new forum rules.

I'm certain most of us could name some of the GOGgers who barely can't hide their glee now.

PaterAlf: but it was just one tweet.
It wasn't just the one though, that's kind of the issue.

As far as I'm aware, there's no Twitter rule that prevents anyone from using a hashtag for different purpose or states that a certain hashtag is solely for one purpose and that alone.

Quick example:
I've seen #gog refers to this GOG and there's also those that use it for Bible.

And no matter how I look at it, I can't see how using the hashtag for marketing is purposely mocking anyone. (because of what I've stated above)
It was clearly referring to a different thing (games) and not the other.

With those said, here's another vote for Linko90.
If anything, he's the victim here.

So it were three tweets in hundreds that he made. I don't think it changes anything that I wrote. And like I said: Remove him from Twitter duty, but let him stay as a moderator. I think that alone is more than enough work for a single person.

MarkoH01: Today it came to my attention that the actual GOG profile of our current community manager Linko90 has obviously been deleted.
If you check 1 of Linko90's old posts, you can still click his profile and start a chat with him. You'll see he's offline.
The 404 you'll get when clicking 'View profile' says nothing as simply uncheck the 'Profile enabled' box in the privacy
settings of your account.

Tauto: How about someone from Gog,confirming whether he is gone or not before you get carried away with your thread.
^This

We'll just have to wait and see.

If he's been doxed, I hope he and his loved ones are fine.

Haha oh what a shame. Does this mean we may actually get a decent forum manager and GOG twitter account? That would be lovely.
there's also the posibillity that linko even if fired doesn't want to come back

but anyway, gog bring linko back, if he/she wants to come back!

I 100% agree with this post and IF Linko was fired from GOG then I am going to seriously have to re-consider my support for GOG. To continue to support a company that doesn't support their employees in the face of internet mobs would go against what I believe in. Should the post have been avoided? Yes. Do I think a companies Twitter should be professional in nature? Yes.

Was this nonsense as serious as it is being made out to be? No. If GOG threw their employee under the bus because of this, then GOG should be ashamed of themselves and you have now allowed the easily offended internet mob to dictate what happens at GOG and they now know they can throw a fit about anything and GOG will cave to them.

Hope Linko and his family are okay from all this and are just taking a break. Fingers crossed we see him back next week. :)

It just occurred to me...

What if, with all that stupid doxxing going on, Linko90 left on his own to escape and prevent further disasters from happening to himself and others around him?

David9855: If you don't know what happened for sure then stop making predictions. Gog's internal policies don't concern me because I am not head of its human resources department. STOP MAKING DRAMA.
What you call drama I call precaution but feel free to ignore this if you think it is overreacting :)
btw i see there also an other possibility, why gog/cdpr made this decision. its not giving in into bullying, but just a straight businness decision to avoid bad vibes during the first days after the thronebreaker release, which lower the sale numbers.

Every decision a business makes is a business decision
I hope Linko is alright.

With all the posts here mentioning doxxing, I'm worried about his well-being. Who knows, maybe he's trying to defend himself from all the mud getting flung at him. I also hope that GOG is helping him cope with the issue.
I too thought that Linko made the forums a better place. He may have screwed up with the twitter account, but I wish GOG could have kept him on as a moderator at least.

Whatever happens, I wish him luck in the future.
