Lukin86: But the staff itself of gog no longer intervenes on the forum whereas a few years ago as you say, there were exchanges.

Telika: It's not the same company. It'd be like importing expectations about EA from the deluxe paint amiga era. GOG used to be some sort of semi-idealistic passion project in the hands of driven and vaguely crazy people (the kind who felt free to do the "gog closes" stunt and the monk penitence). It was humane and humane-scaled, full with Judas and TET and little enthusiastic weekly videos and whatnot.

Now it's grown into a corporate technocracy. Decisions are strictly derived from excel charts and could be implemented by AIs. Not sure which one of their accountants or lawyers you'd like to interact with on the forums, but I don't think you'd find much to discuss.
In fact I have this feeling that gog has become a Soulless company especially since the differences between the community and gog concerning hitman. Even if it already started a little before. But since hitman it's gotten disproportionately worse. And that gog has decided to no longer have any human contact but only sell games. Become steam in fact.

Telika said there are not same anymore, which happens when companies become larger. It was easier to interact with the community when GOG was a small company. Now GOG is much larger, and has more on its chart to deal with. It's a little sad it happens, but it's understandable.

Trust me, this will happen to any company that continues to grow larger.

As others have indicated, this likely due to Xmas holiday season, and they could well be running with minimum staff right now. February should hopefully see an improvement regarding forum participation by staff/mods.

I also expect many were working hard last year, leading up to the finale, and so are probably taking a well earned break right now. GOG certainly seem to think they had a pretty successful year, and I cannot disagree with that, at least going by what I have seen. So a break to get rejuvenated at least, which may well promise a great gaming year for most of us.

The distance could also be due the fact in some of controversies you referenced like the hitman debacle but I saw it even earlier as far back as the baked in Galaxy installer affair, its likely due to the fact that gog staff where getting threatened and possibly doxxed like the Linko affair as well, that might be also a reason for the distance. Personal Safety.

Sure, the early days of GOG were a bit quirky and daft, but at the end of the day I primarily came for the games - I didn't even use the forum much until after the fake shutdown. That hasn't really changed for me. It's just a store for me, then and now. So... *shrug*

As long as GOG keeps bringing the goods I'll be around. All around, 2022 was a great year. There have been much worse.

The same. GOG is just a store I use to buy DRM-free games. Maybe I don't feel unpleased with GOG like some people do because I don't consider GOG my friend or hero to gaming. Just a company that's making money selling DRM-free games.

Agree 2022 was a good year for DRM-free releases. Funny how people seem to ignore all the good DRM-free games released in 2022 and only focus on the bad things about GOG. We had some excellent AAA and indie games released. Not saying you should ignore the bad stuff about GOG, by the way.

There was no TRY. they did, either on NeoGAF or ResetEra.

That's really mess up. Doxxing someone is crossing the line.

I'm guessing it was probably over something trivial.

uh do you really think everything is fine a gog?

Because for information most of the support staff has been fired (all non-English support staff have been fired) and English part of the team too. For that we now have a bot that filters to support.

All non-English community managers are also fired. Even some of the gog staff who were on the English gog forum 1-2 years ago like ashleee, sysia_GOG have disappeared.

Personally, all of this really worries me.

That's why I created this post. Because not a question that gog grows up as some people think since gog fired rather these community and support staff. But rather than gog seeks to save money while cutting contact with the community for this concentrate only for sale.

I saw posts of GOG staff members and moderation activities last week. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Or are the messages from the gog staff? Because the last one I found is 1 month old.

Moderators don't count because they are members of the community like us who do volunteer work in moderation, nothing more.

That's what companies usually do when they need to save money is cut staff. Not saying it's a good thing.

Ashleee is not listed there anymore. sysia answered me on chat very recently and also posted for example the delisting news for the Unreal games:
