00063: KRATOS IS NOT A FAMILY MAN!), Resistance series...
Kratos IS a family man. His whole revenge rampage is based on the fact that Aries tricked him into brutally murdering his wife and daughter to become the ultimate weapon of destruction and one of the most heartbreaking moments in the series is when Kratos has to push his own daughter away to continue his quest for revenge. I dont think the narrative of finally making a family and having a son is a "wrong" direction for him but the combat system with the camera is an issue.

VausG: Considering the increasing amount of leftist ideologically-driven crap in the latest first party titles like Spider-Man 2, God of War Ragnarök or The Last of Us 2 it might not be all that bad if the run of DRM-free (for the singleplayer
Im guessing its the black characters in SM2 and GoW Ragnarok? The in your face BLM push in MM was very blatant but kind of makes sense given its New York and Miles is Black/Hispanic so that movement would be prominent in NYC. GoW well Kratos is black too.

TLoU2 is just terrible storytelling by Druckmann who was always terrible at story writing. The plot of TLoU2 is what Druckmann wanted to do for TLoU1 (wanted to have a story where Joel is trying to deliver Ellie to the fireflies and after a falling out for some reason, Tess is a recurring antagonist chases Joel and Ellie throughout their journey through America. Sound familiar?). I also really dont know why everyone loves TLoU when its honestly a mid game whose saving grace is its ending. In terms of gameplay, its a poor man's Resident Evil 4.

My point exactly.

It's not like Sony hasn't this age-old history of arrogance, purposeful exclusion and outright sabotage of standards...

Just off the top of my head:
- Sony BMG's copy protection rootkit on music CDs
- MemorySticks instead of SDcard / Compact Flash
- support for DVD+R/W instead of DVD-R/W recordable media
- introduction of BluRay instead of HD DVD
- Universal Media Disc (UMD) for the Playstation Portable
- before that, they had the MiniDisc format

And now, oh surprise: Sony on PC doesn't play by the rules and decides to build barricades instead. Who could have seen this coming? The real surprise is that they actually brought some of their games to GOG. That must have been either an experiment or a weak moment of indecisiveness.

Johnathanamz: I will be purchasing every single SONY published video game on Steam and leave a negative review for needing a PlayStation (PS) account and to be released for sale on gog.com.

Just as I am doing right now for MicroSoft published video games. I am spending a lot of money doing this, but I am at least letting them know about gog.com as much as I can.

Cavalary: You are aware that all they care about is how their games sell, so unless this was an ironic comment your actions please them to no end and show that their strategy is working, right?
I would not fully agree: They are capitalistic? Yes, approved... because this is how the cookie crumbles or... the spirits that i have cited, ignoring my commands. But there is still more to it as they clearly do not enjoy "bad rating" and customers not happy in general. However, as long as there is zero economic impact, they feel like "they can live with it". Or in other words: Backup your words with actions too... not only words. Not to many actions needed but every little action may count.

Except that family is a central part to Kratos' character and if anything could redeem him, its family. Kratos actually considers abandoning his quest for redemption to stay with his daughter in Elysium to face off against Atlas and Persephone and its the thought of his family that finally helps him overcome Zeus in 3 and still regrets leaving her in Valhalla DLC. Kratos is innately a man driven by love for his family so to say that creating a new one wouldnt redeem him would be mischaracterizing the character.

The chance of actually making a new family is honestly questionable however. While Kratos could be open given that he has accomplished his mission for revenge, he is essentially a direction-less empty husk and likely suicidal. I think it would make more sense for Kratos to possibly try to reenter the underworld and try to rescue his wife and possibly daughter than to escape to a new realm unless Greece is completely destroyed by his machinations. If that were the case, he should be far more feared.

I do have some issues with how the new God of Wars depict characters (Tyr is way too "successful" for his disposition) but I dont think Kratos calming down a bit after having a kid is too out of character. I do think there should have been bigger instances of pure rage when Atreus gets harmed though.
This might be a lot of crying over nothing. They have to list a PSN account as required in order to fulfill all of the game's listed features. But that does not necessarily mean it is required to play single player without any PSN features like achievements. (Such as with Ghost)

So it's a little early IMO to declare the sky falling.

If Sony demands PSN accounts for their games, sobeit. I don't have to buy them.

But...

... I've purchased almost every R* game and have accepted being forced to have a Social Club account and their launcher (even through Steam).

I was quite surprised about the backlash on Helldivers 2. I always expect online games to demand some kind of account or login or... something. But a PSN requirement for offline SP games? Dunno.

Will Sony simply stop releasing on GOG? Guess we'll see
This means that whenever Bloodborne is announced for PC, I wouldn't be able to buy it because of the PSN requirement. :(
There is enough of other games. Impossible to play them all, at least for me who got some "other life". So, every game with way to worse conditions I simply am gonna pass.

Meh, you people are overthinking it.

If Sony requires an online account for their single-player games, fine, then it will be much less likely I will buy their games, at least when they are relatively new. Regardless if they release them on GOG or Steam or whatever.

So yeah, they have the full right to decide where and how they release their games, and I have the full right to not to buy their games. Luckily I have lots of other games to play too.
Never say never, we might get versions without that requirement at a later date. It's unlikely. but the slight chance is there.

The grass is always greener for the neighbours. That's one for sure though on some days your grass might be greener too ;-)

or

I'm sure that most of the elders here will( or at least can) confirm that the phrase 'same shit different day' applies to everything, even bloodborne

Exactly!
I am not even mad about the PSN thing and you know why? Because they can keep their mid games as long as someone port these ones to PC and release them on GOG:
-Any God of War game before 2018 one
-Dante's Inferno
-God Hand
-Shadow of the Colossus
-Older Tekken games especially Tekken 3
-Finally a quality port of Devil May Cry 1, 3, 4. You basically need a controller for the current ones on Steam, which is ridiculous. It would be an L in my opinion, if any DMC game would come to GOG other than DMC 5, because how awful the PC ports are.

It has been proven in the past you can port almost anything to keyboard and mouse and vice versa, the only thing is holding you back making a quality port is laziness. Also, I do not think there are many games, that have PSN could be considered a major loss for the GOG community. The more, the merrier, but I do not know any games besides Ragnarok, Helldirvers + Ghost of Tsushima multiplayer, that requires a PSN account for you to be able to play them. I just do not care, they can keep them.

Oh right! I had completely forgotten the fact that DMC1-4 require a controller to play on PC. Them getting knm support feels like a pipedream though, with how old they are.

Definitely wish for the Shadow of Colossus remastered to be ported in future. Would love to play it.
