This is interesting.

There were many issues that needed fixed with scripting and security. And making the servers run better and faster to support more players without rubber banding is nice.

I bet some servers will switch to ee right away while others will stay old school. We'll see.

More scripting commands could be a nice addition.

I am sad to see that there isn't a much better graphics enhancement. Looks like the same hokey animations are used.

Overall, I'm in a wait and see more. Baldur's gate and icewind Dale had some nice improvements, but at a lot of cost. Since they aren't changing the stories, that will help alleviate their issues with butchering stories.

*sigh* And here we go again, yet another completely unnecessary "enhanced edition" as a barely disguised cash grab. I don't even care at this point, I'm just waiting for Beamdog to lose the D&D license so we can forget about them once and for all.

They've pretty much proved by now they just don't have the talent, ideas or even interest in making anything original, so I don't know why people would keep supporting them, but whatever.

What I find more depressing is the way the D&D license has been misused for years now. It used to be a basis for making great RPGs, and ever since they started up with 4th Ed. we haven't seen any decent D&D-based game (which is really ironic when you consider that one of the stated goals of 4E was to make D&D easier to adapt to video games).

I really wish WotC would stop handing the license to awful devs like Beamdog or whoever made Sword Coast Legends, and try to lend it to a good one for a change. Although I guess that's easier said than done, but still whoever is in charge of the D&D gaming license back at Wizards for the last 10 years or so really deserves to be fired imo.

Very true. Even more annoying as devs who could do justice to the license would not be that hard to find. The makers of Expeditions Conquistador, or Blackguards or Legend of Grimrock could do great things with D&D.
So this includes the latter three "premium modules" but not the first three which the regular Diamond includes? Also, it doesn't enhanced sh17 basically. They could just sell the premium modules pack with a patch for the rest of the game that does the same thing. Damn it, Beamdog, you just had to be a greedy bastard, right?

jepsen1977: It's cool if the extra premium modules are included since they were unavailable via traditional means. Of course this is the Internet so there are ways.... you don't' want to know - hell, I can get you a premium module by 2 o'clock.

I am one of the few who actually like the OC of Nwn1 so this is kinda cool.
Just need that infinite dungeon and im all set! maybe daggerford and WyrvenCrown, and kingmaker, oh and how about pirates of the sword coast.. man then we gotta get shadow guard and witches wake ^_^

You forgot the added portraits and the flashy new main menu. Definitely worth an additional $10 or more... /S

From their own FAQ. This is what they will be selling.

Premium Modules
- Pirates of the Sword Coast
- Infinite Dungeons
- Wyvern Crown of Cormyr

Soundtracks
- Neverwinter Nights: Enhanced Edition Official Soundtrack
- Premium Adventures Official Soundtrack

Additional DLC
- The Heroes of Neverwinter Portrait Pack

They are doing what they did before. Removing everything that was included as Extras in the classic version, and selling it separately. The classic version will, like with every other game they have leeched onto, be removed from the stores.

And their fanboys still defend it and cheer for it.
That will be interesting to see how it plays out. Back then NWN was actually considered a exceptionally weak Bioware game (that was before EA) and its only saving grace and biggest selling point the Aurora Toolset. The modding community was awesome and created some truly wonderful adventures of which some made the official main look like a fan mod. Hell it was so impressive that it lead to that game called "Witcher" of which some of you might have heard ;)

These days? Well... I guess It will have a basic success based on the popular name; but I do not think it will have the lasting effect. Even if they release it with an enhanced Aurora Tool (which I doubt) its not the big bang AAA must-have because there is nothing else like it release it was in the old days.

Considering the Toolset (even if probably nobody uses it anymore these days) which comes with the classic I consider such a removal a crime against all gamers.

The base Enhanced Edition includes all Premium Modules from the Diamond Edition, that is, Kingmaker, Witch's Wake and Shadow Guard. The Digital Deluxe also includes Pirates of the Sword Coast, Infinite Dungeons and Wyvern Crown of Cormyr.

No, not fanboys... Fan Ladyboys, to be precise. Like they did in Dragonspear. Fanboys demanded a refund and to preserve classics in their library, ahem, cough!

The Beamdog fanboys, not the BG fanboys.

It's one and the same. Beambeech forums are INFESTED by this kind of "special charismatic individuals". Even the staff they hire to write part for their game(s). Their place is the closest thing to SJW Central Snowflake HQ or something!

Darkness over Daggerford is and always has been free, officially and competely legal. It was canceled as a Premium mod and instead distributed as a free community module, which might have been unfortunate for the team back then, but in hindsight was a real blessing for the module and the fans! It's also one of the best 'Premium' modules, and among the longer ones.

emperorsfist: Nobody seems to have mentioned this, but wouldn't this basically break all those community campaigns? You know, the thing NWN was famous for?

hummer010: The announcement claims that NWN:EE is backwards compatible with all save-games, modules and community mods.
they are already contradicting themselves in their own FAQ

Will mods for Neverwinter Nights work on Neverwinter Nights: Enhanced Edition?
Some mods will require updating before they are compatible with Neverwinter Nights: Enhanced Edition.
