First, I have nothing against Enhanced Editions. Although I "know" that Beamdog is a shaddy company, deliberately giving false information about their games and removing evidence (like bug reports which happened to me twice).

For me, GOG meant Baldur's Gate, Ice wind dale, Planescape Torment and Neverwinter Nights. It was Fallout (1-2), Gothic, Arcanum. Those were the reasons I joined GOG and now have 570 games in my library.

Now that Beamdog corrupted those first 3 games and forth on the way, it no longer feels like the GOG I joined. GOG NO LONGER HAS THOSE GAMES.

I am done. If the original NWN is off the shelf like the previous titles, I am done.

NovaPyxis: Thank you Lilura for the only positive and intelligent post. Neverwinter Nights was, and still remains, the greatest D&D computer game ever made. Yes Baldurs Gate 2 had the best campaign and Planescape Torment had the best story, but NWN 1 had the best engine and game creation system by far. Aside from the included campaigns there were hundreds of player created games and mods to play, plus it was the only option for being a DM and controlling a multi player D&D game. It is without a doubt the best choice for an enhanced edition remake. And for all these other naysayers, if you don't want it, then don't buy it, very simple.
We can buy it now, and it works fine. Beamdog did Nothing, they simply applied a widescreen mod, doubled the price, and then removed the original. If your daft enough to waste your money then thats your problem, but don't tell people not to mention this fact. NWN is a great engine, it is right now, no Beamdog money grab needed.

BeatriceElysia: Hey, stop being so negative, you guys...

I really hope for nwn1 ee because nwn1 does not work on my win10 laptop, and no - "it works for me" - it does not for for me. I love original saga, sou and hotu and I will definitely cash full price upon it's release... Sorry guys, modules comes and goes and are recreated.... so I really like this news....

I would also love IWD2 EE, but there's no original source code...
It sounds like nothing works on your Win10 laptop, and yes, these all work on my WinXP, Win 7, and Win 10 machines.

You write about multi-core CPU support and x64 code - is this something you know to be included in the EE or just wishful thinking? (Honestly curious, not meant as criticism! :) )

Well, I have problems with win10 laptop - but probably due to my laptop having integrated graphic card... biggest problems started after some win10 creator's update...though....

Yes, the latest update to Win 10 has borked a few things, I have seen some posts on this. This is one of the reasons why I keep an XP and 7 box nearby - the 7 box can also hot swap out for Linux. Afraid the simple fact is, if you want a simple gaming life, best to use consoles, PC's - escpecially in older times, had such variety and such which makes one simple solution for all next to impossible. Never heard anything good about integrated G-cards, but have never used them personally. We are however quite fortunate nowadays, with DosBox, Scumm, and other emulators, plus resources like:
https://pcgamingwiki.com/wiki/Home
It has become a lot easier - not to mention GOG's efforts to repurpose games.
This .... is interesting.

I know I'm in the minority here, but I've appreciated the Beamdog Enhanced Editions:
- native Linux binaries
- fully scalable, high resolution interface that is much more playable on my 13" 1080p display than gemrb+widescreen mod.
- vastly improved save / load system. (If you think this is only for save-scummers, go and navigate all the maps of the city proper!).

but...

NWN already has Linux binary. It's old, and can be cumbersome to get running at times, but it still works.
NWN already supports 1080p.

Beamdog's EE version are overpriced for what they are.

There's a good chance I still pick this up, but it's not as easy a decision as the IE games.
Ugh. *looks at PC Gamer & RPS comment sections* Fucking sheep, the lot of them.

Thank god I bought that D&D bundle back in the day before they started removing the classic editions from the store.
Im honestly looking forward to the day Beamdog loses the rights to all these games.
This seems unnecessary...

I haven't had a problem running the GOG version on my regular PC as of yet. Another cash grab?

"Hey, what other good game others made in the past can we grab the rights for, throw a thin coat of paint over in exchange for a massive price increase and replace in all stores, so we'll make another pile of money without actually having any ideas or taking any chances, largely by holding those who'd still want to play that good old game to ransom?"

sergeant_citrus: Welp, glad I have the original in my library ... not that I ever got around to finishing it.

My rogue absolutely could *not* get past those dragons.
Your life's not long enough to finish it. That's the beauty.

I wouldn't mind a revamp so long as they don't crap it up. But, you know, good luck with that.

Best post from rpgcodex

"But if it is anything like BG:EE or BG:SoD, they would likely have added in a few new homosexual/bisexual/transexual companions and changed it so that Aribeth and Aarin are bisexual (they had different dialogs based on gender in the original). I shudder to think what they would do to Hordes of the Underdark because, you know, DROW.

Having seen BG:EE and what they did to the franchise, what you can expect out of Beamdog is basically stereotype horny, immature, socially maladjusted SJW nerd fantasies of girl-on-girl action with a side of bi and trans. With the ocassional giggly schoolgirl kawaii crap. All blue-tacked on to an existing game in order to "enhance" it."

ayyyyyyyyyy lmao
Nice to see both original Neverwinter in top bestselling right now.
Many players just don't want such "enhancing", I guess. We didn't ask for this, Beamdog.
